ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources (ICAR-NBFGR) was established in December 1983 in a rented premises at Allahabad under the aegis of Indian Council of Agricultural Research to undertake research related to the conservation of fish germplasm resources of the country. The Bureau’s permanent infrastructure was developed at Canal Ring Road, Telibagh, Lucknow, U.P in 1999 comprising an administrative block, laboratories, farm and residential complex covering an area of 52 acres. The Institute's vision is assessment and conservation of fish genetic resources for intellectual property protection, sustainable utilization and posterity.
The Walk-in Interview is scheduled on 04.07.2025 from 10:00 hrs. onwards at ICAR- NBFGR, Lucknow for selection of Young Professional-I (01 No.) & Young Professional-II (04 Nos.) on contractual basis under below mentioned different projects.
Young Professional-I (Reserved only for Scheduled Tribes) (01 Post)
Project entitled : Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) Scheme Under “Short Term Technical Manpower Hired in ICAR Institute”
Monthly Emoluments : Rs. 30,000/-
Age : 21 years p.m. Fixed and max. 45 years with relaxation as per rules.
Essential : B.F.Sc., B.Sc. (Life Sciences/ Fisheries/ Aquaculture/ Biology/ Zoology).
Young Professional-II (01 Post)
Project entitled : Development of monoclonal antibody-based assay for detecting Edwardsiella ictalurid infection in fish Under “Short Term Technical Manpower Hired in ICAR Institute”
Monthly Emoluments : Rs. 30,000/-
Age : 21 years and max. 45 years with relaxation as per rules.
Essential : Master’s degree in Fisheries Sciences with specialization in Aquaculture /Aquatic Animal Health Management/Fish Pathology and Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ any other fisheries science subjects. OR Master’s degree in Life Sciences with two years research experience in Microbiology / Molecular Biology / Biotechnology.
Desirable : • Candidates with working experience in Monoclonal antibody (mAb)/mAb based diagnostic kit at reputed lab/ organization.
• Research publications in peer reviewed international journals in the area of fish health.
Young Professional-II (01 Post)
Project entitled : Development of molecular system for identification of fish species Under "Short Term Technical Manpower Hired in ICAR Institute"
Monthly Emoluments : Rs. 42,000/- Fixed
Age : 21 years and max. 45 years with relaxation as per rules.
Essential : M.F.Sc. degree in Fish Genetics & Breeding/Fish Biotechnology/Aquaculture 1st Division or 60% marks or equivalent overall grade point average.
Desirable : Candidate with working experience in Molecular Biology, PCR etc., Fish Breeding, milt cryopreservation, seed production and live fish maintenance.
Young Professional-II (01 Post)
Project entitled : “NEH Component under Short Term Technical Manpower Hired in ICAR Institute”
Monthly Emoluments : Rs. 42,000/- p.m. Fixed
Age : 21 years and max. 45 years with relaxation as per rules.
Essential : • Post-Graduation degree in fisheries/Agricultural allied sciences / Zoology / Biological Science/Biosciences/relevant basic science
• 60% marks or equivalent overall grade point average in master degree
Desirable : Desirable candidate should have hands-on experience in CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing or genome editing techniques. Proficiency in molecular biology tools for designing and validating genome edits is preferred.
Terms & Conditions

2. Above positions are purely temporary and may be terminated by the Director, ICAR- NBFGR, Lucknow without assigning any reasons at any stage. The same can be extended in yearly basis on candidate's yearly performance assessment and fund availability.
3. The tenure and service conditions of Young Professionals-I & II will be governed by ICAR guidelines.
4. Only the candidates, who fulfill all the eligibility conditions, will be invited to appear for walk In- interview.
5. Place of work will be at ICAR-NBFGR, Lucknow but can be changed as per need for all above mentioned posts.
6. The candidates are requested to be present 30 minutes before scheduled time on the date of interview.
7. Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidature.
8. The selection will be based on academic performance, research experience and performance during the interview.
9. The decision of Director, ICAR-NBFGR, Lucknow will be final and binding in all aspects.
