National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi is an Autonomous Research Institution under the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC) and is funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, to pursue research on various frontier areas of Plant Biology such as, climate resilient agriculture, plant health and immunity, nutrient use efficiency, biofortification and other emerging areas. The objective of the institute is to conduct high-quality research in the frontier areas of plant biology with the aim of having practical application in crop improvement. The institute provides a supportive environment for academic growth, fostering innovative thinking and collaborative research.
Candidates are invited to appear before selection committee in the walk-in-interview for filling up the purely temporary position of Two Research Associate-I, One Senior Research Fellow, and One Project Associate – I in the Gates foundation funded project entitled “Development of climate resilient chickpea and brassica by gene editing”, under the supervision of Dr. Naveen C. Bisht, Scientist VI, NIPGR.
Research Associate-I (Two Post)
Emoluments : Rs. 58,000/- plus 27% HRA per month
Qualification : Candidates should have Ph.D. degree in any branch of Biological / Life Sciences and fulfilling the norm/guidelines of DST OM No: DST/PCPM/Z-06/2022 dated 26/03/2023, are eligible to apply. Candidates having good publication record, and prior experience of working with genetic transformation and gene editing in Brassica crops will be given preference.
Senior Research Fellow (one post)
Emoluments : Rs.42,000/- plus 27% HRA per month
Qualification : Candidates having M.Sc. degree or equivalent in Life Science/ Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology or any other related field with two years of research experience. Candidates having CSIR-UGC NET/GATE/DST-INSPIRE and also those who qualify as mentioned in the DST Office Memorandum SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated January 30, 2019 are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to those with exceptional academic track record (with a minimum of 60% marks throughout their education) and having experience in plant molecular biology.
Project Associate-I (One Post)
Emoluments : Rs. 25,000/- plus 27% HRA per month
Qualification : Candidate having Master’s degree in Plant biology / Botany / Genetics / Biochemistry / Biotechnology/ Agriculture/life sciences/ Bioinformatics with at least 55% (or equivalent) marks or any other related fields and fulfilling the norm/guidelines of DST issued vide DST Office Memorandum number SR/S9/Z-05/2019 dated July 10, 2020 are eligible to apply.
The above positions are completely temporary and co-terminus with the project. The fellowship amount for the above positions is as sanctioned in the project and as per DBT/DST norms. The initial appointment will be for one year or till the tenability of the project whichever is earlier and the same can be curtailed/extended based on assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualifications and experience of the candidate. The appointment may be terminated at any time by giving one- month notice by either side. The applicants will have no claim implicit or explicit for consideration against any regular position of NIPGR.
The duly filled application form along with self-attested copies of the date of birth, educational & experience certificates must be submitted at the time of registration at NIPGR from 09:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on June 25, 2025. Any candidate reporting after 10:30 a.m. will not be entertained for walk-in interview. The candidates must ascertain eligibility before applying, as ineligible candidates will not be interviewed. All the candidates are requested to appear for the interview with complete bio-data in given format and original degree/experience certificates and transcripts for verification. Canvassing in any form or bringing influence, political or otherwise, will lead to the disqualification of the candidate.
Eligible candidates may appear for walk-in-interview at BRIC-National Institute of Plant Genome Research (BRIC-NIPGR), Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, New Delhi-110067 on June 25, 2025 (Wednesday) at 10:30 am onwards along with the duly filled in application form in the prescribed format.
Note: Incomplete application and those in the wrong format will be summarily rejected. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the walk-in-interview.
