Vikram Ambalal Sarabhai was one of the greatest scientists of India. He is widely regarded as the father of the Indian space programme. In fact he was a rare combination of a scientist, an innovator, industrialist and a visionary. Vikram Sarabhai was born on August 12, 1919 at Ahmedabad in an affluent family of progressive industrialists. He was one of the eight children of Ambalal and Sarla Devi. He had his early education in a private school, ‘Retreat’, run by his parents on Montessori lines. Some of the great personalities like Gurudev Rabindranath, J Krishna Murthi, Motilal Nehru, VS Shrinivasa Shastri, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sarojini Naidu, Maulana Azad, CF Andrews, C V Raman et al used to stay with the Sarabhai family when they visited Ahmedabad. Mahatma Gandhi also once stayed at their house while recovering from an illness. Visits by such great personalities greatly influenced Vikram Sarabhai.

General Note
1. The candidates appointed under PWBD quota will be adjusted against the vacancy of respective categories of EWS/SC/ST/OBC/Un-reserved. Persons suffering from not less than 40% of relevant disability shall alone be eligible for the benefit of reservation and other relaxation as permissible under rules.

GENERAL CONDITIONS / INSTRUCTIONS
01. The posts are temporary, but likely to continue.
02. THOSE WHO POSSESS THE REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AS ON THE LAST DATE OF APPLICATION (as on 16.06.2025) ONLY NEED TO APPLY.
03. PAY & ALLOWANCES AND AGE LIMIT :
Approximate gross emoluments : 50,000/- per month
Age Limit as on 16.06.2025 : 18 to 35 years
Relaxation in the upper age limit by 05 years for SC/ST category candidates and 03 years for OBC category candidates against the posts reserved for these categories. Departmental candidates, Disabled Defence service personnel, Ex-Servicemen, Meritorious Sportspersons & Persons With Benchmark Disabilities (PWBD) are eligible for age relaxation as per Government of India Orders.
04. The Organisation has a progressive HRD policy which provides an excellent growth potential for the right individual through its periodical merit-based performance review system (called Merit Promotion Scheme) de-linked from availability of vacancies at higher post by which the staff are being evaluated for the advancement of their career in the Organisation.
05. 06. At present the place of posting is VSSC, Thiruvananthapuram, but the selected candidates are liable to be posted in any of the Units of the Indian Space Research Organisation/Department of Space situated anywhere in India, as and when required.
07. Candidates will have to produce proof of the details furnished in their applications submitted on-line as and when required.
08. Candidates should be willing to undergo biometric verification.
SELECTION PROCESS :
1.The selection process consists of (1) Written test and (2) Skill test
(1) Written Test
a. 80 Multiple choice questions. (The syllabus for written test shall be curriculum based.)
b. Duration: 90 minutes.
c. 1 mark will be awarded for each correct answer and there will be negative marking of 0.33 mark for each wrong answer.
d. Pass Criteria:
o For UR & EWS category – Minimum 32 out 80 marks.
o For other reserved category – Minimum 24 out of 80 marks (only for vacancies reserved for them).
e. The ratio for skill test is 1:5 with a minimum of 10 candidates.
(2) Skill Test
Will be of qualifying nature only. The minimum marks required for qualifying the skill test is 50/100 marks for UR candidates and 40/100 marks for reserved categories.
From amongst the candidates who qualify in the skill test, empanelment will be done in the order of marks obtained in the written test. In case of a tie in written scores, the academic scores of the notified qualification shall be the tie-breaker.
Please note that the qualification prescribed for the posts advertised is the minimum requirement and the same does not automatically make the candidates eligible for selection.
10. Only Indian Nationals need apply.
11. No interim correspondence will be entertained.
12. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
13. Candidates working under Central/State Government, Public Sector Undertakings, Autonomous bodies etc. should submit ‘No objection certificate’ from the present employer at the time of skill test. Further, candidates who got employment after submission of online application should also submit NOC from employer at the time of skill test. A candidate who fails to submit NOC as mentioned above, will not be permitted to attend skill test and his/her candidature will be cancelled.
14. In respect of vacancies reserved for OBC category, reservation will be available only to candidates, who do not fall in the Creamy Layer and such candidates have to upload latest OBC (non-creamy layer) certificate (valid as on 16.06.2025) issued by the Competent Authority in the prescribed format applicable for reservation in jobs under Government of India while applying and should produce the same at the time of skill test. OBC certificate must specifically include the clause regarding exclusion from Creamy Layer and should be updated/valid at the relevant point of time. Certificates obtained after 16.06.2025 will not be considered for reservation purpose. The prescribed format for producing OBC (non-creamy layer) certificate is as per Annexure-I. Further, those candidates claiming reservation under OBC category have to upload a self declaration (format as per Annexure-II) along with the OBC non-creamy layer certificate (as a single file).
15. In respect of vacancies reserved for EWS, the candidates applying against Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) quota should upload Income and Asset Certificate (valid for the financial year 2025-2026) issued by the Competent Authority in the format prescribed in DOPT OM No.36039/1/2019-Estt(Res), dated 31.01.2019 while applying and the same should be produced at the time of skill test. The Income and Asset Certificate shall be valid for the financial year 2025-26 and the financial year for computing gross annual income of the family shall be 2024-25. The prescribed format for producing Income and Asset Certificate is as per Annexure-III. In case of non-compliance of the conditions stipulated in the OM, the claim for reserved status under EWS will not be entertained and candidature/application of such candidates, if fulfilling all the eligibility conditions for General (UR) category will be considered under General (UR) vacancies only.
16. In case of vacancies reserved for SC/ST category, SC/ST candidates will have to submit self attested copy of SC/ST certificate (valid as on 16.06.2025) issued by the Competent Authority in the prescribed format (Annexure-IV) applicable for reservation in jobs under Government of India, at the time of skill test.
17. In the case of candidates who claim concession/relaxations being Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), Certificate of Physical Disability issued by the Competent Authority should be uploaded while applying and the same shall be produced at the time of skill test.
18. The candidates claiming concession/relaxation under Ex-servicemen category shall upload the relevant certificate issued by the Competent Authority while applying and the same shall be produced at the time of skill test.
19. Applications submitted without complete information will summarily be rejected.
PAYMENT OF APPLICATION FEE :
Initially, all applicants have to uniformly pay Rs.500/- per application. Female / Scheduled Castes (SC) / Scheduled Tribes (ST) / Ex-servicemen [EX-SM] and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates will be refunded full fee subject to the condition that the candidates should appear in the written test. For other candidates, an amount of Rs.400 will be refunded in due course duly deducting bank charges as applicable on appearing written test. Fee may be paid online through Credit Card / Debit Card / Internet Banking/ UPI only through Integrated SBI ePay facility. No other mode of payment will be acceptable. All applicable service charges for payment of fee shall be borne by the applicant. The refundable portion of examination fee shall be refunded duly deducting bank charges as applicable. The application fee paid by the candidates whose application is incomplete or those who have not submitted their application or whose application is rejected, will not be refunded. The applicants shall correctly furnish Bank details for the purpose of Refund of application fee viz. Account No., IFS Code, Name of Bank, Name of Branch and Name of the Account Holder . VSSC will not be held responsible for any issue arising in refund of the application fee as a result of incorrect entry of bank details by the applicant in the online application. In this regard, the applicants belonging to the following categories are required to upload their relevant certificates as follows :
1. SC/ST candidates – SC/ST certificate
2. Ex-servicemen candidates – Discharge certificate
3. PWBD candidates – Disability certificate
SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION
Upon on-line registration, applicants will be provided with an on-line Registration Number, which should be carefully preserved for future reference. The candidates are also advised to take a printout of the online application for future reference.
23. The applicants need not send any documents by post such as printout of online application, copies of certificates / mark lists in proof of educational qualification, work experience, age etc.
24. It may be noted that corrigendum, if any, related to any modifications to the advertisement will be notified in VSSC website only and will not be notified/advertised in Employment News / Newspapers.
Note : In case of submission of duplicate/multiple applications the latest application against which the 'application fee' has been received within the last date of payment of application fee only will be considered.
