Post : Junior Research Fellow (JRF) - 01 Post

GBU invites applications for following posts in extramural project entitled ‘Establishing environmental surveillance of emerging pathogens and pollutants from Gujarat using multi- omics approaches’ purely on temporary basis and is co-terminus with the project duration.

Project Title : Establishing environmental surveillance of emerging pathogens and pollutants from Gujarat using multi-omics approaches 
Project Focus : The proposed study will pursue environmental epidemiological surveillance for monitoring emerging contaminants (pathogens and pollutants) and determining their threats. Additionally, molecular detection methods for selected few pathogens will be developed. 
Project Funded by : Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission (GSBTM), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of Gujarat. 
Project Duration : Till March 9, 2026


Eligibility : M.Sc./M.Tech in Biotechnology/ Microbiology/ Biochemistry/ Bioinformatics or any other relevant life science discipline with minimum 55% marks or equivalent CGPA obtained. Those who have just completed M.Sc. and are awaiting final semester results can also apply. 

Desirable Qualification and Experience : 
• Candidates who have qualified the CSIR-UGC-NET/ DBT-JRF/ ICMR-JRF/ GATE/ OTHER national level exams. 
• Candidates having experience in bioinformatics are encouraged to apply. 
• Candidates having experience in NGS and data analysis are encouraged to apply. 
• Candidates having experience and interests in molecular biology techniques/ metagenomics/ metabolomics are encouraged to apply. 
• Candidates must have proficiency in scientific writing.

Job requirement 
• Candidates will have to perform NGS data analysis and multi-omics analysis. 
• Candidates will have to perform all molecular biology and associated techniques for multi-omics approaches (Metagenomics, Metabolomics and others) 
• Candidates will be involved in molecular detection method development of emerging contaminants.


Fellowship 
Rs. 36,000/- per month inclusive of HRA for NET/ GATE/ national-level exam qualified candidates as per GSBTM, DST, GoG guidelines. or Rs. 23,213/- per month inclusive of HRA for candidates who have not qualified the NET/ GATE/ national-level examinations as per GSBTM, DST, GoG guidelines.
