Vacancy for Junior Research Fellow at NIREH

ICMR-National Institute for Research in Environmental Health (NIREH), Bhopal, is one of the permanent institutes of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a Government of India’s apex autonomous organization for bio-medical research in the country. Historical Indian Council of Medical Research, an apex national body in biomedical research in India, after the Methyl Isocynate (MIC) gas/toxic gas disaster in the night of 2nd and 3rd December, 1984 in Bhopal set up, a Coordinating Unit in 1985 and initiated several research programmes. 

The ICMR-National Institute for Research in Environmental Health (ICMR-NIREH), Bhopal invites applications in prescribed format for the following project posts to be filled purely on time bound temporary basis.

Post : Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Project Entitled : “Investigations on adsorptive removal of antibiotics from water (APRIAM)” (PI: Dr. Vishal Diwan, Scientist ‘E’) duration up to 01 (One) years initially and will be extendable depending upon the performance.

Age Limit : 30 years

Essential Qualification :  Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science OR Graduate/Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following: - (a) Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests such as CSIR- UGC, NET, including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE. (b) The selection process through National level Examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER etc.

Desirable Qualification :
• Applicants having degree in Chemical Engineering/Analytical Chemistry /Inorganic Chemistry /Environmental Engineering would be preferred.
• Good experience of scientific and analytical laboratory procedures.
• Hands-on experience of adsorption and chromatographic studies.
• Understanding of scientific manuscript writing.

Consolidated Salary (Per month) : Rs. 37,000/- + HRA as applicable per month.

The Post is Purely Temporary and Co-Terminable with the Project.

Procedure for Recruitment
1) Candidates meeting the age criteria and possessing the required qualifications, experience, etc. and willing to work for the above mentioned projects may apply and fill the Application Form in the prescribed format only and send it to the email ID on or before the last date and time of receipt of applications with enclosures as mentioned above. There is no need to send hard-copy of any application form/documents at this stage. 
2) Candidate should super scribe “Application for the post of……………..” in the subject line while sending their application through e-mail on No other mode of application will be accepted. 
3) The list of shortlisted candidates will be displayed on the websites of ICMR-NIREH & ICMR Hqrs and these short-listed candidates will be called for interview through Walk-In-Interview/Video Conferencing. 
4) Candidates are advised to visit the Institute's website for any changes, result or any other information. 
5) Late received and incomplete applications form or applications not submitted in the prescribed format or without photo and signature will not be considered and will summarily be rejected. 
6) The above position will be filled purely on temporary CONTRACT basis and co-terminus with the project. 
7) The rates of emoluments/stipend shown in this advertisement are as per the guidelines and as per the sanction. Payment of emoluments to the project employee will be depending on availability of funds from the funding agency. 
8) Age relaxation is admissible in respect of SC/ST/OBC/PWD/ExSM/Retrenched Government Employees in accordance with the instructions issued by GoI/ICMR from time to time. Candidates working/have worked on project of ICMR Institutes/Centre's shall be given one-time age relaxation, subject to approval of competent authority, to maximum of five years or a completed months/years based on earlier project services, whichever is less, provided they meet the essential qualification and experience prescribed for the post, with a view to provide them opportunity to compete with other candidates. No age relaxation will be available for UR position. 
9) The date for determining the eligibility of age of all candidates in every respect shall be from last of application submission. 
10) Category once applied will not be allowed to be changed at later stage and no communication in this regard will be entertained

11) Reserved category candidates must produce their valid Caste Certificate for age relaxation. OBC candidates must possess a latest valid non-creamy layer certificate. 
12) Separate application should be submitted for each post/reservation. Engagement of applicant for a particular position will be decided by selection committee/appointing authority. 
13) Qualification & experience should be in relevant discipline/field and from an Institution of repute. Experience should have been gained after acquiring the minimum essential qualification, if required. 
14) Mere fulfilling the essential/educational qualification does not guarantee the selection.
15) Persons already in regular time scale service under any Government Department / Organizations are not eligible to apply. 
16) Submission of wrong or false information during the process of selection shall disqualify the candidature at any stage. 
17) The candidate may be permitted to register for Ph.D. as per institutional norms and as per admissibility of project duration. 
18) Contract appointee shall not have any claim on a regular post in this institute or any other ICMR Institute or in any Department of Government of India and their contract service will not confer any right for further assignment or transfer to any other project or appointment/absorption in funding agency or in this institute. Benefits of Provident Fund, Pension Scheme, Leave Travel Concession, Medical claim, Dearness Allowance, Transport Allowance, Bonus etc. are not admissible. An undertaking to that effect must be submitted at the time of joining. 
19) Since the posts are purely temporary, the incumbent selected will have no claim for regular appointment under ICMR or continuation of his/her services in any other project. 

20) Initial contract appointment will normally be for a period as specified in the appointment letter. Further continuation/ extension of the service will depend on requirement of the Institute, performance evaluation and approval of the competent authority on case to case basis. 
21) In the event of selection, a candidate must produce all documents or certificates in original relating to (1) Educational qualifications (2) Date of Birth (3) Experience certificates (4) One recent passport size photograph (5) Identity proof i.e. Aadhar/PAN/Voter ID/Driving License etc. (6) One set of self-attested photocopies of all documents (7) SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Disability Certificate, if applicable, for verification at the time of joining the post. 
22) Candidates who fail to bring the original certificates at the time of joining and if any discrepancy is found in the documents such candidates will not be allowed to join the selected contract post and the position will be offered to the waiting list candidates. 
23) The Appointing authority reserves the right to terminate the service of the contract personnel even during the agreed contract period or extended contract period without assigning any reason. Leave shall be as per the Institutional policy for contract staff and ICMR guidelines in this regard. 
24) ICMR-NIREH reserves the right to cancel/modify the recruitment process at any time, during the process, at its discretion.
25) The institute reserves rights to consider or reject any application/candidature. The decision of the Director, ICMR-NIREH will be final and binding. 
26) Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification and the decision of the Selection Committee will be final. 
27) All the educational qualifications/certificates shall be from the recognized Board/University. 
28) No TA/DA will be paid either for interview in person/joining the post. Candidates have to arrange transport/accommodation themselves for these purposes.

32) Any matter for which no specific instruction has been given shall be decided by the Director, ICMR-NIREH, Bhopal and the decision shall be final and binding on the candidate.
