The Dr. Reddy's Institute of Life Sciences was conceived in the context of globalization, to foster research competence in India and to bridge the divide between academic research and the pharmaceutical & biotechnology industries. The institute was incorporated as a non-profit entity under Section 25 of the Indian companies act, facilitating operational autonomy. Construction of the DRILS building comprising 44 labs and an administrative block and spanning ~130,000 sq.ft. in area, began in 2004 and was completed in January 2007.

Project duration: Until April 9, 2020 Appointment will be renewed yearly contingent on performance.

PROJECT SUMMARY
The zebrafish Danio rerio can be a useful model to study human biology and disease. Tyrosine kinases are a family of proteins with significant roles in cell growth and proliferation, and are major molecular targets for cancer therapy. We have shown that human tyrosine kinases are well-conserved in zebrafish. This Indo-Spanish collaborative project aims to explore the effects of tyrosine kinase inhibition using small molecules, and tyrosine kinase gene deletion or overexpression in zebrafish.
i. Identification of phenotypic and molecular endpoints of tyrosine kinase inhibition (using approved TKIs or CRISPR-mediated gene deletion) in wild type zebrafish.
ii. Evaluation of the effect of tyrosine kinase inhibition in transgenic zebrafish overexpressing selected human tyrosine kinases with glioma phenotypes.
iii. Genomic profiling of wild type and transgenic zebrafish.

Qualified and interested candidates may send their curriculum vitae by e-mail to hr@drils.org on or before deadline. mention in the subject line of the mail the following code: Zebrafish - Biology.

Selected candidates will be called for a personal interview to Dr. Reddy’s Institute of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad Campus, Gachibowli, Hyderabad. Candidates will not be reimbursed for Travel for the Interview, if short listed.
