Regional Plant Resource Centre was established in 1985 as a recreational garden and with an aim to provide a green lung for the inhabitants of Bhubaneswar – the capital city of Orissa. Gradually it became a dynamic and vibrant research organization of the State Government with a focus on the conservation of plant biodiversity. Over the year, it has made significant contributions in the field of ex situ and in situ conservation and assessment of genetic diversity of various groups of plants and its related aspects. With strengthening of scientific manpower and laboratory facilities, it expanded its areas of research which witnessed large outputs in terms of analysis of genetic assessment of plant groups through cyto-taxonomic and molecular techniques.

SRF/JRF- 01
Title of the project: Population inventory, propagation and reintroduction of some rare, endangered and threatened plant species of Odisha
Project duration: One year
Essential Qualification: M.Sc. in Botany/Biotechnology/ Forestry/ M.Sc, (Ag.) in Horticulture with good academic record
For SRF position, two years of experience in biodiversity studies is essential
Desired qualification & experience: Experience in Biodiversity/ Field research
Fellowship amount: Rs. 14,000/- PM for SRF Or Rs 12,000/- for JRF (Consolidated)
Name of the PI: Dr. P. C. Panda, Principal Scientist

JRF- 01
Title of the project: Evaluation of Geophila repens as a potential source of drug against Alzheimer diseases
Project duration: One year
Essential Qualification: M.Pharm in Pharmacology/ Pharm chemistry/Pharm Cognosy) or M.Sc. (Biotechnology/Life Sciences/ Botany/Biochemistry) with good academic record
Desired qualification & experience: Experience in animal Handling
Fellowship amount: Rs. 12,000/- PM (Consolidated)
Name of the PI: Dr. Atish K. Sahoo, Senior Scientist

Candidates fulfilling the eligible qualifications and experience may attend the walk-in interview at 11.00 A.M on 16th June, 2014 in Dr. P. K. Parija Hall of the Regional Plant Resource Centre along with all original certificates in support of educational qualifications and research experience for 2 (two) temporary positions of SRF/JRF.

Interested candidates may bring with them a biodata along with copies of relevant documents/certificates in support of the educational qualifications, age, research experience and other documents for verification at the time of interview.

No TA/DA is permissible for attending the interview.
