The laboratory of Dr. Jennifer E. Golden at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison) is seeking two (2) Postdoctoral Research Associates. Successful candidates will join a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary and multi- institutional team working to develop an antiviral small molecule through IND (investigational new drug) enabling studies and FDA review.
OPEN POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE POSITIONS

Position Requirements :
• PhD in synthetic organic chemistry or strongly synthetic chemistry focused, related discipline
• Excellent experimental and laboratory record keeping
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English
• Meet project deadlines through effective planning, proactive communication of risks or delays, and timely implementation of corrective actions
• Ensure strict adherence to laboratory chemical hygiene plans, safety protocols, and institutional policies, maintaining a safe and compliant work environment in the laboratory and surrounding facilities.
Preferred Qualifications for All Positions
• Experience with scaling known organic chemistry reactions from gram to multigram scale
• At least one first-author research publication in a peer-reviewed, internationally recognized journal
• Ability to work independently, cooperatively, and thrive in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
Position Duties : Each researcher will be responsible for the execution of an iterative, multistep synthesis on multigram scale (5-50 g). Thorough analysis of chemical products by standard methods (NMR, MS, trace metal analysis, chiral HPLC analysis for enantiomeric purity) is expected, along with tracking of experimental details, purity, product characterization, and cost. The goal is to deliver a high quality research grade chemical product for use by the extended team at other research organizations for in vivo studies that establish safety and efficacy of a potential drug product. This position offers access to state-of-the-art facilities and collaborations with experts in virology, pharmacology, medicinal and process chemistry. The role is ideal for researchers seeking exposure to a drug discovery platform that started from screening hits and has advanced to a preclinical asset with experience offered in late stage synthetic efforts and engagement with models used to evaluate efficacy and toxicity.
