NIT Rourkela is one of the premier national level institutions for technical education in the country and is funded by the Government of India. Government of India has elevated the Regional Engineering College, Rourkela to a deemed university under the name of National Institute of Technology, Rourkela.  The main objective of the Institute is to produce quality Engineers and Scientists in Graduate and Post-Graduate levels in various branches of Engineering and Science.

Candidates who fulfill the below mentioned criteria may submit the application form before the last date. Title of the Project : Continuous non-invasive, wearable multi-metabolite and inflammation sensing platform for metabolic profiling and disease analytics.

Essential Qualifications and experience : 1. First Class Postgraduate Degree / M.Tech / MPharm (minimum 60% or CGPA 6.5) including integrated PG degrees in Engineering or Basic Sciences (GATE Qualified mandatory with valid GATE/GPAT/NET score). OR First Class Graduate Degree of Four Years (minimum 60% or CGPA 6.5) in Engineering/IT/CS/Pharmacy (GATE Qualified mandatory for Graduate degree holders with valid GATE/GPAT/NET score) 
2. For MSc. holders, GATE / GPAT / CSIR-NET JRF Qualified is mandatory with valid GATE score as per Institute rule. 
3. All other guidelines and conditions apply as per OM SB/S9/Z-06/2019 dt.01-02-24 
4. All educational qualifications / certificates shall be from the recognized Board / University. 
5. All experience gained shall be preferably from Govt. Organisations and shall be counted from the date of completion

Experience / Software / Skill set & Desirable Qualification : 1. Preferrably M.Tech /B.Tech in Biomedical Engineering/M. Pharm /M.Tech in Electronics Engineering/ M.Tech or MSc in Biotechnology/Chemistry with valid GATE/GPAT Score. 
2. Prior experience of working with biosensors / AI / bio-electronics / electrochemistry/diabetes is desirable and preferred

Consolidated monthly compensation / Fellowship : Year 1 & 2 INR 37,000.00 /-per month (+) HRA @ NA % (if applicable)
Year 3 INR 42,000.00 /-permonth (+) HRA @ NA % (if applicable)

Job Description : 1. Development and testing of biosensors in the lab
2. Development of electronic data read out and test platforms for sensors in collaboration with other team members.
3. Preparing and maintaining documents for project related work.
4. Liasing with project partner organisations, both clinical and manufacturing on collaborative tasks related to the project.
5. Attending and presenting research work at premier conferences, meetings.
6. The candidate is expected to enroll for PhD program at the Institute, subject to fullfilment of Institute PhD admissions criteria as per
NITR/AC/Res/2026/M/0916 dt.10-Apr-2026

The period of experience in a discipline / area of work, wherever prescribed, shall be counted after the date of acquiring the minimum prescribed educational qualifications for that position. Mere possession of minimum qualification does not guarantee invitation to the interview. Candidates will be short listed based on merit and need of the project. Selection / Joining will be cancelled in case of any suppression of information / document submitted.
NIT Rourkela reserves the right to fix higher criteria for short-listing of eligible candidates from those satisfying advertised qualification and requirement of the project post. Only short-listed candidates will be informed for Online interview. Any other terms & conditions governed as per guidelines issued by the funding agency for the engagement of above position as amended from time to time shall be in force towards this temporary recruitment.

Age Guideline : The upper age limit for applying for the award of project position shall be 28 years, which is relaxed up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to Schedule Castes / Schedule Tribes / PWD and Female applicants whereas 3 years in the case of OBCs (Non-creamy layer candidates). Upper age limit shall be reckoned as on the last date of receipt of applications.

Any other terms & conditions governed as per guidelines issued by the funding agency for the engagement of above position as amended from time to time shall be in force towards this temporary recruitment.
