NBPGR opens research opportunities for Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences candidates

The Bureaus activities include PGR exploration, collection, exchange, characterization, evaluation, conservation and documentation. It also has the responsibility to carry out quarantine of all imported PGR including transgenics meant for research purposes. The multifarious activities are carried out from ICAR-NBPGR headquarters and its 10 regional stations located in different agro-climatic zones of India. It has linkages with international organizations of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) and national crop-based institutes to accomplish its mandated activities. Presently, ICAR-NBPGR National Genebank conserves over 4.68 lakhs accessions. ICAR-NBPGR collects and acquires germplasm from various sources, conserves it in the Genebank, characterizes and evaluates it for different traits and provides ready material for breeders to develop varieties for farmers.

Emoluments / month : Rs 78,000/- plus 27% HRA

Essential Qualification :
(i) Doctoral Degree in Science (Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Botany/ Genetics/ Food Technology / Life Sciences / Plant Genetics Resources from a Recognized University or equivalent Degree)
(ii) Seven years’ relevant experience and in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific Activities and Services in the area

Desirable Qualification :
(i) Experience of molecular detection of transgenics/ development of molecular diagnostics in plants
(ii) Experience in real-time PCR, isothermal amplification methods for molecular detection
(iii) Publications in peer-reviewed high impact journals

Upper Age limit : 45 years

General Terms and Conditions
• Candidates are requested to ensure their eligibility like age, qualification etc. before appearing for the interview.
• Candidates having essential qualification will only be considered for interview.
• Candidates are required to submit copy of the duly attested certificates/ mark sheets from matriculation onwards, experience certificate, certificates of NIn /CATI'./awards, first page of research papers etc. along with application form affixing a passport size photograph on the top.
• No TA/DA and official accommodation will be provided for appearing in the interview.
• Age relaxation as per the Government of India/ ICAR rules
• The post is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project, selected candidate has no right to claim for regularization or absorption whatsoever in ICAR/NBPGR.
• The decision of Director of the institute will be final and binding in all aspects.
• The Director reserves the right to terminate the contract of job as mentioned above, even before the completion of the project for which no appeal thereof shall be entertained.
• The original certificates will be verified at the time of interview.
• If any information of the candidate is found to be incorrect or concealing any facts, his/her candidature to the interview/ selection to the post is liable to be cancelled at any stage.
• The selected candidate will be required to produce medical certificate at the time of joining.
• Emoluments may be paid as per satisfaction of the work by the PI and fund availability by the funding agency.
• In case of any disputes, it will be resolved in the jurisdiction of New Delhi court only.

Walk in Interview will be held on 27th July 2026 at 10.00 AM. at ICAR-National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR), New Delhi.

The candidates fulfilling the mentioned eligibility criteria shall attend the Walk-in-interview and shall bring duly filled Application form in the format provided along with the Original and photocopy of Documents in proof of age, educational qualifications, experience, publications, awards etc. The Original documents will be verified on the interview date.
