BRIC-National Agri-Food and Biomanufacturing Institute (BRIC-NABI) is an autonomous Institute under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. BRIC-NABI aims at catalysing the transformation of the Agri- food sector in India by being a nodal organization for knowledge generation and translational science leading to value-added products based on Agri-Food biotech innovations for improved household nutritional security. Since its inception in 2010, BRIC-NABI is involved in research activities for Bio-fortification, the development of designer crops for improved nutrition, providing sustainable and novel solutions for quality food and nutrition, and the development of evidence-based functional foods to counter malnutrition.
The food and nutritional Biotechnology division at BRIC-NABI requires the following research personnel purely on a temporary basis.
Project Associate-1 (PA) (One positions)
Project Title : “BIRAC sponsored Banana Bio fortification project entitled “Development and Transfer of Technology from Queensland University of Technology, Australia to India for Bio fortification and Disease Resistance in Banana” (GAP-02)
Principle Investigator : Dr. Siddharth Tiwari, Scientist F, BRIC-NABI
Funding Agency : Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC)
Duration : Till December 2026* (Based on the terms and conditions of the funding agency).
Essential Qualification : Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent.
Desirable Experience :
1. Prior practical understanding of metabolic pathway engineering, plant tissue culture, plant genetic engineering, biochemical and molecular biology techniques would be expected from the candidate
2. Project Associate-I will assist in analysis of bioinformatics data related to whole genome sequencing, transcriptomic and phenotypic performance of transgenic banana lines.
3. knowledge and experience in bioinformatics analysis of various data.
Job Responsibility : 1. To assist scientists and research scholars in experiments 2. Any other scientific responsibilities assign by in-charge scientist
Emoluments: - Expected Rs. 31,000/- per month plus HRA. It can be revised (up or down) in accordance with the funding agency's terms and conditions. Salary will be released upon receipt of funds from the funding agency.

Essential Qualification : Master’s Degree in Microbiology/Botany/Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Agriculture/Plant Molecular Biology or allied sciences from a recognized University or equivalent.
Desirable Qualification : Experience in microbiology, molecular biology and plant tissue culture.
Responsibilities : The PA will be required to conduct experiments in microbiology, molecular biology and plant tissue culture. Emoluments: - Rs. 31,000/- plus HRA (For NET and GATE qualified candidates) or Rs. 25,000/- plus HRA (For Non-NET/GATE qualified candidates). Essential Qualification : Ph.D. in Plant Biotechnology / Molecular Biology / Plant Sciences / Life Sciences or related discipline with at least with at least one research paper in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.
Desirable Experience
1. Strong experience in plant molecular biology techniques including advance molecular cloning, DNA-protein and protein - protein interaction studies.
2. Experience in microscopy, histological analysis, or reproductive tissue architecture studies.
3. Experience in CRISPR/Cas-mediated genome editing and mutant screening.
4. Hands-on experience in tissue culture, plant regeneration, and phenotyping of edited lines.
5. The candidate with at least two peer-reviewed international publications in Science Citation indexed (SCl) journal in relevant filed. Experience in transcriptomics, comparative genomics, or multi-omics data analysis related to plant development or reproductive tissues.
6. Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
7. Relevant research publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Desirable Qualifications
1. Experience of molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, cloning, and gene expression analysis.
2. Hands-on experience in rice tissue culture and regeneration.
3. Familiarity with microscopy, staining, or imaging techniques for reproductive tissues.
4. Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
5. Prior project/dissertation work in plant molecular biology, genomics, or bioinformatics will be an added advantage.
Emoluments : 31,000/- + HRA for Scholars who are selected through (a) National Eligibility Tests - CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE or (b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions. 25,000/- + HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above (Emoluments and eligibility are as per DST OM SR/S9/Z05/2019 dated 10th July, 2020).

Application Procedure & Other Conditions
1. All interested candidates may appear for Walk-In-Interview at National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute located at Knowledge city, Sector-81, Mohali, Punjab- 140306, on 28.07.2026 at 09:00 A.M. along with the duly filled application form available on the website nabi.res.in.
2. Interested candidates must apply using the prescribed application form attached to the advertisement on the official website. Please note that CVs or expressions of interest sent via email or phone will not be accepted or treated as valid applications.
3. The applications should be submitted strictly as per the prescribed format that can be downloaded from the NABI website.
4. Candidates applying for more than one post can give their preference by writing different designations in the same application form.
5. Candidates should ensure that information mentioned in the application form is accurate. Once the application form is submitted no further request regarding any changes/ information in the application form will be considered.
6. The duly filled application form must be submitted at the time of registration at NABI from 09:00 AM to 10:00 AM on 28.07.2026. 7. The candidates must ascertain their eligibility before applying, as ineligible candidates will not be interviewed.
8. All the candidates are requested to appear for a Walk-In interview with an application form, experience certificates, publications, and original degree certificates and transcripts.
9. Original mark sheets, certificates, award/fellowship, etc must be accomplished for verification at the time of the interview and attach one set of attested copies of the documents with the application form.
10. No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the interview.
11. Canvassing in any form or bringing influence, political or otherwise, will lead to disqualification of the candidate(s).
12. Candidates should strictly adhere to guidelines issued by World Health Organization and Centre Govt/State Govt on Covid-19. 13. In the event of special circumstances, candidates may request the project investigator (via email) to conduct their interviews online. Such requests must be submitted well in advance, preferably at least one week prior to the scheduled interview date. However, the final decision will be taken by the selection committee to ascertain the special circumstances and allow the candidate (s) for an online interview. The Institute reserves the right to conduct the interview in online/offline mode.
14. Interview results will be published on the NABI website.
15. The last date to submit the online application is 24.07.2026. No applications will be entertained thereafter.
