Two Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Positions are available in the Microbial Engineering group, in the lab of Dr. Shams Yazdani, in a Government and industrially-funded project, respectively. The position is available initially for one year with possibility of annual extensions based on fund availability, performance and achieving milestones.
Junior Research Fellow (lignin valorization)
Job description : The selected candidate will be converting lignin derived product into useful compounds using bacterial strain engineering. The candidate will also be responsible for preparing detailed technical reports summarizing the results and for the timely submission of these reports.
Qualifications : M.Sc/ M.Tech, Biotechnology, Life Sciences or other related field with experience in enzymology/molecular biology techniques. Desirable qualifications: GATE/NET qualification with experience in molecular biology, enzyme kinetics and/or genome engineering will be preferred.
Junior Research Fellow (biomanufacturing)
Job description : The selected candidate will be conducting Molecular/Synthetic biology experiments to engineer genome of bacterial strains for production of a commercial product. The candidate will also be responsible for preparing detailed technical reports summarizing the result and for the timely submission of these reports.
Qualifications : M.Sc/ M.Tech, Life Sciences or other related field with experience in molecular biology techniques.
Desirable qualifications : Experience in Metabolic engineering, and genome engineering will be preferred.
Please note that this is a temporary project position whose duration is only for the tenure of the sanctioned project. The salary will be as per DST norms, based on qualification and experience.
