The Bharat Life Sciences Award (BLSA) is a first of its kind national platform, rigorous, independent, and built to endure, that recognises excellence across the full spectrum of India's life sciences ecosystem.
Organised by FICCI and powered by Lilly, the Bharat Life Sciences Award honour individuals, teams, key institutions, innovators, and ecosystem builders whose work advances scientific discovery, strengthens health systems, and delivers meaningful public health impact.
Applications are free of charge and open to scientists, public and private research institutions, universities and startups working across the life sciences ecosystem.
Applications are invited for the Bharat Life Sciences Award (BLSA) 2026 to recognise excellence in scientific research, innovation, and public health impact across India’s life sciences ecosystem. Backed by Rs 7 crore in grant support, the Award is instituted to recognise outstanding scientists, research institutions, universities, startups, and ecosystem leaders advancing healthcare and life sciences. This initiative is organised by FICCI with Lilly and supported by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) & Invest India.
The Award comprises six honours across five categories, covering individual excellence, collaborative innovation, institutional excellence, healthcare and life sciences startups and scientific ecosystem development. While four categories carry grant support, two categories recognise outstanding contributions to innovation and ecosystem building. Applications will be evaluated by an independent jury through a transparent assessment process.
Applications are open from 1 July to 10 August 2026 and no application fee is required. Researchers, scientists, public research institutions, universities, private sector innovators can participate.
