IISERs were created through a proclamation of Ministry of Education, Government of India, to promote quality education and research in science and related areas. The first two IISERs (Pune and Kolkata) were established in 2006. This was followed by an Institute at Mohali (2007), Bhopal & Trivandrum (2008), Tirupati (2015), and Berhampur (2016). IISERs were incorporated as Institutions of National Importance under the umbrella of the NIT (Amendment) Act, 2012 (NIT Act 2007). The Act was further amended in 2014, entitled the NITSER ACT 2014. Each IISER is a degree-granting autonomous institute.

Educational Qualifications
Candidates must hold a degree from a recognized University or Institute in one of the following qualifications:
• Master’s Degree : M.Sc., M.Tech., or MBA (with 10 years' experience)
• Doctoral Degree : Ph.D. or higher qualification (with 5 years’ experience)
Eligible Disciplines : Management Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
Experience & Core Competencies
• Proven Track Record: Demonstrated experience in driving innovation, technology commercialization, or incubator management, with a strong preference for individuals from the life sciences sector.
• Desirable Experience: We highly value candidates who have previously served as a CEO, Center Manager, or Chief Operating Officer (COO). Experience leading a BIRAC or similar nationally / internationally recognized incubator , technology transfer office, or a comparable innovation ecosystem i3 highly desirable.
Age Limit : Maximum Age : 50 years and relaxable as per the Govt norm
Responsibilities
• Strategic Leadership: Provide vision and direction for the Centre's growth and sustainability.
• Startup Incubation: Lead incubation, acceleration, and entrepreneurship development programs.
• Technology Commercialization: Facilitate technology transfer and market adoption of innovations.
• Partnership Development with industry, academia, investors, & government agencies.
• Resource Mobilization: Drive fundraising, sponsorships, and investment opportunities.
• Startup Mentoring: Guide startups in business planning, scaling, and investment readiness.

• Financial & Administrative Oversight: Ensure efficient financial management, compliance, and governance.
• Team Leadership : Build and manage a high-performing team and innovation ecosystem.

• Impact & Growth : Enhance the Centre's reputation
• Emoluments & Contract Terms
Salary : Consolidated remuneration of up to Rs. 1,75,000/- per month (all inclusive).
No additional allowances (HRA, TA, DA, etc.) are admissible over and above the consolidated pay, as per funding agency norms.
Contract Duration & Renewal
The position is initially offered for one year, renewable on an annual basis subject to satisfactory performance assessment.
The contract may be extended up to a maximum of 3 years, or until the completion of the project, whichever is earlier.
Continuation beyond the initial term is subject to:
Annual performance review and assessment by the competent authority Availability of funds and compliance with the guidelines of the funding agency.
Terms & Conditions
This is a purely temporary and contractual position co-terminus with the project.
The position carries no claim for regularisation or permanent employment at USER Bhopal.
All terms are governed by the guidelines of the respective funding agency.
