The Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University was established by an Act passed by the parliament (No. 58 of 1994). The University came into existence on 10.01.1996 vide GOI, Ministry of HRD, Education Department Notification No. 8-16/GOI/desk/U-1 dated 05.01.1996. The basic philosophy and policies of the University are spelt out and enshrined in the University Act and Statutes. The University offers graduate and post-graduate students the knowledge and skills needed to succeed as persons and professionals, and the values and sensitivity necessary to serve the society. Advertisement for Engagement of Contractual and Guest Faculty (Purely Temporary) Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Lucknow, a Central University established under the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University Act, 1994, invites online applications from eligible Indian citizens for engagement of Contractual and Guest Faculty on a purely temporary basis for the Academic Session 2026-27 to meet the immediate academic requirements of various Teaching Departments at its Lucknow and Amethi Campuses.

Qualifications
The minimum educational qualifications, eligibility conditions and other academic requirements shall be as prescribed under the UGC (Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers and Other Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges) Regulations, 2018, as amended from time to time.
Candidates possessing higher academic credentials, research publications, teaching experience and desirable specialization relevant to the concerned department may be given due weightage during the selection process.
Remuneration
Contractual Faculty : The selected Contractual Faculty shall be paid a fixed consolidated remuneration of Rs. 57,700/- (Rupees Fifty-Seven Thousand Seven Hundred only) per month, equivalent to the initial Basic Pay of an Assistant Professor at Academic Level-10, without any allowances
Guest Faculty : The selected Guest Faculty shall be paid Rs. 1500/- (Rupees One Thousand Five Hundred only) per lecture, subject to a maximum ceiling of Rs.50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand only) per month.
It is made clear that the engagement of Contractual/ Guest Faculty is purely temporary in nature. Contractual/Guest Faculty will not be treated like regular teachers for the purpose of voting rights or for becoming the members of the various statutory bodies of the university. The superannuated teachers may also be considered for engagement as Contractual/Guest Faculty subject to a maximum age limit of 70 years. The Contractual/Guest Faculty will not be given the benefit of allowances, pension, gratuity and leave etc. as admissible to the regular teachers.
It is further made clear that Contractual/Guest Faculty may be assigned teaching, examination, evaluation and other academic duties at par with regular faculty members; however, duties involving statutory, financial or disciplinary powers shall not be assigned.
General Instructions and Essential Information
1. Eligible and interested candidates are required to submit the duly filled prescribed application form, available on the University website bbau.ac.in, along with self¬attested scanned copies of all requisite supporting documents in a single PDF file through e-mail at dean.academic@bbau.ac.in. Applications shall be accepted from 01-07-2026 (10:00 A.M.) to 08-07-2026 (11:59 P.M.). Applications submitted through any mode other than the prescribed e-mail, including by hand, post, courier or any other electronic medium, shall not be accepted and shall be summarily rejected. Applications received after the prescribed closing date and time or found incomplete in any respect shall also be summarily rejected.
2. Separate applications shall be submitted for each Department and/or discipline.
3. The engagement shall be purely temporary and contractual in nature. It shall neither confer any right for regular appointment nor create any claim for absorption, continuation or seniority in the University.
4. The engagement of Guest Faculty shall initially be for one Semester or until further orders of the University, whichever is earlier. The engagement may be extended for a further period of one Semester (six months), subject to satisfactory performance, teaching effectiveness, conduct, availability of workload, continued requirement of the Department, and approval of the Competent Authority. Such extension shall not confer any right for regular appointment, absorption, or continuation beyond the approved tenure.
5. The Contractual Faculty shall initially be appointed for one Academic Session or until further order of the University, whichever is earlier. The engagement may be extended for a further Academic Session, subject to satisfactory performance, teaching effectiveness, conduct, availability of workload, continued requirement of the Department, and approval of the Competent Authority. Such extension shall not confer any right for regular appointment, absorption, or continuation beyond the approved tenure.
6. Reservation shall be applicable strictly in accordance with the Government of India rules and UGC guidelines.
7. Mere fulfillment of the prescribed minimum qualifications shall not entitle any applicant to be called for interaction or selection. The University reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates to be called for interaction by adopting appropriate short-listing criteria.
8. Selected candidates shall be required to undertake teaching, practical/laboratory work, student mentoring, evaluation, examination duties, academic administration and such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Head of the Department and the University.
9. The workload and duties shall ordinarily be in accordance with the applicable UGC norms and University regulations.
10. The shortlisted candidates shall be informed regarding the date, time and venue of interaction through the registered e-mail only. No separate communication by post shall be made.
11. Candidates shall produce all original certificates, testimonials, caste/EWS/etc. certificates, and one complete set of self-attested photocopies at the time of interaction.
12. The candidates already in employment are required to produce an NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the employer at the time of Interview, failing which they may not be interviewed.
13. No TA/DA, accommodation or reimbursement of any kind shall be admissible for attending the interaction.
14. Qualification, experience, publications and other eligibility conditions shall be reckoned as on the last date prescribed for submission of applications.
15. The University reserves the right to verify the antecedents, credentials, publications, research claims and authenticity of all documents submitted by the candidates at any stage of the engagement process.
16. Applications found incomplete, unsigned, received after the prescribed date or not supported with the requisite documents shall be summarily rejected.
17. Suppression of material information, submission of false declarations, fabricated documents or plagiarism in publications shall render the candidature liable to cancellation at any stage, including after engagement, without prejudice to legal action.
18. The University reserves the right to modify, cancel, postpone, withdraw or amend the advertisement, alter the number of vacancies or not to fill any or all positions without assigning any reason. The decision of the Competent Authority shall be final and binding.
19. In case of any inadvertent error in the advertisement or during the selection process, the University reserves the right to rectify the same at any stage in accordance with the applicable rules.
20. Any corrigendum, addendum, clarification or further notification shall be published only on the University website bbau.ac.in. Candidates are advised to visit the website regularly for updates.
21. Any dispute arising out of this advertisement shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent Courts/Tribunals situated at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
22. The decision of the University in all matters relating to eligibility, shortlisting, selection, engagement and interpretation of the provisions of this advertisement shall be final and binding and no correspondence in this regard shall be entertained.
