CSIR- National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI), Lucknow is a constituent laboratory of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR). CSIR-NBRI undertakes basic and applied research in important areas of plant sciences.

Eligible & interested candidates are invited for interview for the purely temporary positions in the following areas under the sponsored projects tenable at CSIR-NBRI

Area-I : Pharmacognosy, Phytochemistry and Product Development

Technical Assistant (01 post)
Essential Qualification : Graduate in Science/Pharmacy 
Desirable Qualification : Knowledge of medicinal plants / Pharmacognosy 
Job Specification : Field collection and processing of medicinal plants, market survey and procurement of raw drugs from different markets of India and analysis in lab. 
Age : 35 years 
Stipend : Rs. 20,000/- p.m. (consolidated) 
Project Name : Mechanistic studies in elucidation of Shodhana for nine poisonous medicinal plants of El schedule (GAP-3521) 


Project Associate-1 (01 post)
Essential Qualification : Post Graduate in Botany/Chemistry/ Pharmacy 
Desirable Qualification : Good knowledge of field work on medicinal plants 
Job Specification : Botanical and Chemical profiling, Collection od medicinal plants from field 
Age : 35 years 
Stipend : (i) Rs. 31,000/-p.in.+ HRA to scholars who are selected through: (a) National Eligibility tests-CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship) or GATE or (b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments their Agencies Institutions (ii) Rs. 25,000/- p.m.+ HRA (For other who do do not fall under above (i) 
Project Name : Identification of adulterants/substitutes for Ayurveda plant raw material in trade using pharmacognostic and phytochemical parameters (GAP-3520) 

Field Assistant (01 post)
Essential Qualification : Graduate in Science/Pharmacy 
Desirable Qualification : Knowledge of medicinal plants/Pharmacognosy

Project Associate-I (PAT-I) (03 posts)
Essential Qualification : M.Sc in Chemistry / Organic chemistry / Biochemistry / Pharmaceutical Chemistry / Microbiology / Human genetics / M.Pharma with pharmaceutics or pharmacology as one of the subjects 
Desirable Qualification : Experience in plant phytochemical investigation and metabolites analysis / grouping and handling of rat or mice in experimentation / cell line culture, C. elegans, bacteria and development of bacterial and cell link knock-out 
Job Specification :  Chemical profiling of plants: prepare plant extracts; antimicrobial and anti-diabetic study 
Age : 35 years

Area-II : Plant Diversity, Svstematics and Herbarium 
Project Associate-I (PAT-I) (07 posts)
Essential Qualification : M.Sc in Botany / Plant Science / Environmental Science / Biotechnology / Bioinformatics 
Desirable Qualification : Experience in survey, collection, taxonomic identification, floristic assessment, conservation of flowering or non-flowering plants / programming and bioinformatics / transcriptome analysis / genome analysis
Job Specification : Collection and identification of flowering and non- flowering plants; genetic diversity, phylogeny study; transcriptome, genome analysis.
Age : 35 years
Stipend : (i) Rs. 31,000/-p.m.+ HRA to scholars who are selected through: (a) National Eligibility tests-CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship) or GATE or (b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments their Agencies institutions 
(ii) Rs. 25,000/- p.m.+ HRA (For other who do not fall under above (i)

Terms & Conditions
HRA will be admissible as per sanction of the projects.
a) The Application form will be provided at the venue on the date. However, candidates may download the application form in advance from the website  nbri.res.in. At the time of interview candidates should bring one latest photograph, original documents along with self¬attested copy of certificates of examinations passed (starting from matriculation), certificate indicating date of birth and experience certificate, etc. Tentative mark sheets/certificates and 'result awaited' will not be considered. All eligible candidates are requested to be present at the venue on the said date one hour before the scheduled time for necessary documents verification etc.
b) Mode of Selection: Through Interview. However, if large number of candidates turn up, a Screening test comprising of multiple-choice objective questions may be held for short listing the candidates for interview. The shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the Selection Committee and, based on the performance in the interview; a panel of recommended candidates will be formed. The panel shall be utilized as and when the requirement arises in the projects in the relevant field/area. Candidates have the option to interact in Hindi/English before the committee. In case of turning up of large no. of candidates, interview may continue for next day.
c) The appointment of the selected candidates in the CSIR/extemally funded project will be co¬terminus with the project subject to his/her satisfactory progress, receipt of the funds from CSIR and other extant rules/ conditions/instructions issued by CSIR/GoI/Other Authorities from time to time. The total tenure of the project staff in projects in CSIR should not exceed 06 years. However, the project personnel shall be allowed to continue beyond 6 years only in case of contract/consultancy/sponsored projects funded by PSUs, Industries, Start-ups and Individual entrepreneurs, that are of 12 months or less duration. In such an event, the total period of engagement of any project personnel under one project and/or combination of different projects, either in the same laboratory and/or different laboratories of CSIR, cumulatively taken together shall not exceed 07 years. 
d) In case of Universities/Institutes awarding CGPA/SGPA/OGPA Grades etc., candidates are requested to convert the same into percentage based on the formula as per their University/Institute.

e) The relaxation in the age limit for the candidates belonging to the category of SC/ST/PwBD/ Women and the category of OBC shall be 05 years and 03 years respectively.
f) The period of experience in a discipline / area of work, wherever prescribed shall be counted after the date of acquiring the minimum prescribed educational qualifications prescribed for that grade.
g) In case of large number of candidates turn up for the interview, there is a possibility that interviews may continue till late in the evening or the next day also. Therefore, candidates are requested to make their travel plans accordingly.
h) Number of position(s) may vary at the time of selection.
i) Director, CSIR-NBRI reserves the right to cancel/modify the vacancy/recruitment/ selection process, if the need arises, without issuing any further notice or assigning any reason thereof.
j) Canvassing in any form and / or bringing any influence political or otherwise will be treated as disqualification for the post.
k) In case, it is detected at any point of time in future, even after engagement, that the candidate was not eligible, engagement of the candidate shall be liable to termination forthwith as per this clause.
1) To avoid any inconvenience, only those candidates who strictly fulfill the eligibility criteria and possess the degree/mark sheet in the aforesaid subjects should turn up for walk in interview.
