Indian Air Force invites ONLINE applications from MALE INDIAN/ GORKHA (A SUBJECT OF NEPAL) citizens from all States and UTs for selection test from 25 September 2025 onwards to join Indian Air Force as Airmen in the Group ‘Y’ Medical Assistant trade.
Eligibility Criteria
Marital Status and Date of Birth Block.
1. Medical Assistant trade (For candidates with 10+2). Candidate should be unmarried and born between 02 July 2005 and 02 July 2009 (both dates inclusive).
2. Medical Assistant trade (For candidates with Diploma/ B.Sc in Pharmacy). Unmarried candidate should be born between 02 July 2002 and 02 July 2007 (both dates inclusive). Married candidate should be born between 02 July 2002 and 02 July 2005 (both dates inclusive).
3. In case, a candidate clear all the stages of the Selection Procedure, then the upper age limit as on date of enrolment should be 21 years for candidates with 10+2/ Intermediate/ Equivalent including vocational course and 24 Years for candidates holding Diploma/ B.Sc in Pharmacy.
Educational Qualification
1. Candidate should have passed 10+2/ Intermediate/ Equivalent Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English from Education Boards recognised by Central, State and UT with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and with 50% marks in English. OR Should have passed two years’ Vocational Course with non-vocational subjects i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English from Education Boards recognised by Central, State and UT with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
2. Candidate with Diploma/ B.Sc in Pharmacy. Candidate should have passed Intermediate/ 10+2/ Equivalent Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English. In addition, Diploma/ B.Sc in Pharmacy with minimum 50% marks in aggregate with valid registration from State Pharmacy Council or Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) at the time of enrolment will be mandatory requirement.
Note-1. Education Boards (for 10+2 or equivalent) recognised by Central, State and UT shall only be permitted.
Note-2. Exact aggregate percentage of marks before decimal as written in the marks sheet of 10+2/ Intermediate/ Equivalent/ Diploma/ B.Sc in Pharmacy OR calculated as per the rules of concerned Education Board shall only be considered (For example 49.99% should be taken as 49% and not to be rounded off to 50%).
Mandatory Medical Standards.
General Physical/ Medical Standards to become an Airmen are as follows:-
1. Weight. Weight should be proportionate to height and age as applicable for IAF.
2. Chest. Minimum chest circumference should be 77 cm and chest expansion must be at least 05 cm.
3. Hearing. Candidate should have normal hearing i.e. able to hear forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters by each ear separately.
4. Dental. Should have healthy gums, good set of teeth and minimum 14 dental points.
5. General Health. Candidates should be fit for the Air Force, must conform to the medical standards. Candidates should be of normal anatomy without loss or deformity of any appendages. He should be free from any active or latent, acute or chronic, medical or surgical disability or communicable disease, infection and skin ailments. Candidate shall be physically and mentally FIT to perform duty in any part of the world, in any climate and terrain.
6. Gender. Any candidate if found to have predominant characteristics of the opposite gender as evident on external physical examination, will be rejected as Unfit. Any candidate having undergone gender reassignment surgery will be declared Unfit.
7. Height & Visual Standards. Visual standards and minimum acceptable height for Medical Assistant and Medical Assistant (Pharmacist) for recruitment are as follows : Trades : Medical Assistant and Medical Assistant (Pharmacist)
Height in cms (min) : 152 cms
Maximum limits of Refractive Error : Not exceeding + 3.50D including Astigmatism
Visual Acuity : 6/36 each eye, correctable to 6/6 each eye
Colour Vision : CP-II
Note :
1. Candidates should bring latest prescription (not older than one month) and spectacles for corrected vision, if used. The prescription must bear the diopter measurement, name, signature, stamp and registration number of Ophthalmologist. Date of prescription should be within a month prior to appearing for medical examination.
2. Candidates with history of LASIK/ PRK will not be accepted.
Consumption of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS). Consumption of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic substances banned under the NDPS Act 1985 shall be a reject criteria for selection into the IAF. Airmen found either in possession or storing or distributing or consuming such drugs and substances after enrolment shall be liable for disciplinary action including dismissal from the IAF. ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY TO ALCOHOLISM AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE IS FOLLOWED IN IAF.
Body Tattoo. Permanent body tattoos are not permitted. However, tattoos only on inner face of the fore arms (inside of elbow to the wrist), back (dorsal) part of the hand/ reverse side of palm and Tribal with tattoos which are as per custom and traditions of their tribes may be considered. Offensive, obscene, indecent, sexist or racist tattoos are prohibited regardless of location on the body. However, right to consider a tattoo acceptable or unacceptable will rest with the Selection Centre. Candidates with permanent body tattoos are to submit two postcard size photographs (close up and distant view) with details of size and type of the Tattoo.
Only Sikh candidates, whose religion prohibits cutting of hair or shaving of face, shall be permitted to grow hair and/ or retain beard and moustache. Accordingly, those Sikh candidates willing to retain the same as per laid down specification are to get their photographs with beard and moustache.
Candidates discharged from Indian Army/ Indian Navy/ any other Government Organisation shall also be eligible subject to their discharge with NO ADVERSE ENTRIES. Such candidate has to declare at the time of testing for Phase-II that he is an Ex-employee of above said organisations and produce original Discharge Certificate. In case of serving individuals, they must be in possession of NOC from their employer at the time of Phase-II. If any candidate does not disclose the fact of being employed or that of being an Ex-employee, his candidature shall be cancelled at any stage during the selection process and if selected , shall be liable for discharge/ dismissal from the service for hiding the fact of his employment. Candidates discharged from the Indian Air Force for any reason are not eligible to appear in the selection test. Candidates debarred permanently from any previous Air Force exam due to malpractices or any unfair activity are not eligible to appear in the selection test. If found at a later stage, the candidature will be cancelled automatically.
Terms and Conditions
• Tenure & Training. Enrolment shall be for an initial period of 20 years (subject to service conditions) which may be extended up to the age of 57 years (subject to service conditions). Initially, candidates shall be sent for a Joint Basic Phase Training (JBPT) at designated Basic Training Institute. On successful completion of JBPT, candidates will be sent for trade training of specific duration which shall include security training or any other training as per service requirements. Training is however liable to be terminated at any time if the trainee fails to achieve the required standards in academics, profession, physical fitness and discipline or is found to be medically unfit. AFTER SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF ALL STAGES OF TRAINING, THE AIRMEN SHALL BE DEPLOYED ON JOBS AS PER IAF REQUIREMENTS. TRADE ALLOTTED SHALL NOT BE CHANGED ON CANDIDATE'S REQUEST ON ANY GROUNDS. Note-1. Candidates will not be permitted to stay with their family during the training period. Note-2. Unmarried candidates will not be permitted to get married till successful completion of their ab-initio training.
• Employability. Airmen enrolled under this entry are liable to be assigned any duty in organisational interest at the discretion of the Indian Air Force.
• Pay & Allowances. During training, a stipend of Rs.14,600/- per month shall be paid. On completion of training the starting gross emoluments at the minimum of scale of pay including Military Service Pay (MSP) is Rs.26,900/- per month. In addition, dearness allowances (as applicable) which, in subsequent years, may rise as per the career progression of the individual.
• Other allowances such as Transport Allowance, Composite Person Maintenance Allowance (CPMA), Leave Ration Allowance (LRA), Children Education Allowance, HRA etc. shall also be admissible to Airmen, as per relevant government instructions. 16. Higher Education. Airmen shall be permitted to pursue higher education qualification only after acquiring prescribed skill grade in their trade and prescribed years of service as stated in HRP (Human Resource Policy).
• Perks. Perks such as ration, clothing, medical facilities, accommodation, CSD facilities, Leave (60 days annual and 30 days casual in a calendar year as a privilege, subject to service exigencies), Recreational facilities, transport for school going children and Leave Travel Concession (LTC) shall also be provided as per the existing rules. Group Insurance Cover of Rs. 62.5 Lakhs at a premium of Rs.3200/- per month for all Airmen and facility of Group Housing Scheme are also extended.
• Job Specification of Medical Assistant Trade. As a Medical Assistant, you are to be trained in nursing and first-aid. You will also be involved in management of medical stores, dispensaries and ward supervision and other Air Force duties.
Note : Airmen shall also have to undertake any other tasks as assigned by superior authorities.
HOW TO APPLY
• Candidates are to fill ONLINE Applications by logging on to airmenselection.cdac.in.
• During online registration, the following documents are to be uploaded as applicable by respective candidates:-
1. Class 10th/ matriculation passing certificate.
2. Intermediate/ 10+2/ Equivalent Examination marks sheet with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English from Education Boards recognised by Central, State and UT with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and with 50% marks in English. OR Two years vocational Course marks sheets of non-vocational subject i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English from Education Board recognised by Central, State and UT with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and with 50% marks in English.
3. Candidate with Diploma/ B.Sc in Pharmacy. Mark sheet of Diploma/ B.Sc in Pharmacy with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
4. Passport size recent colour photograph (taken not before June 2025) of size 10 KB to 100 KB (front portrait in light background without facemask and head gear except for Sikhs). The photographs is to be taken with candidate holding a black slate in front of his chest with his name and date of photograph taken, clearly written on it with white chalk in capital letters. Change in appearance like growing beard, head gear etc., in comparison to the photographs may result in cancellation of candidature for STAR online examination and Phase-II.
5. Candidate’s left hand thumb impression image (Size 10 KB to 100 KB).
6. Candidate’s signature image (Size 10 KB to 100 KB).
7. Candidate’s parent’s (Father/ Mother)/ Guardian’s signature image (if candidate is below 18 years on the date of filling the online application).
• Examination Fee : Examination fee of Rs. 550/- plus GST is to be paid online by the candidate while registering for the online examination. The payment can be made by Debit Cards/ Credit Cards/ Internet Banking through payment gateway. Candidates are advised to follow the instructions/ steps given on the payment gateway, and also print/ keep transaction details for their records.
• Refund of Multiple Payments. If multiple payments are received from a candidate against single application, then that will be refunded back to the originating account after closing of registration and re-conciliation of all payment records. However, if candidate is found to have filled multiple applications, only one application will be accepted and the amount with respect to other applications not considered for recruitment process will not be refunded. Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances and shall not be kept in reserve for any other examination or selection.
• Candidate must have his valid E-mail ID and Mobile No. for successful online registration.
• Candidate should enter AADHAAR number in online application. Candidates from J&K, Ladakh, Assam and Meghalaya are exempted for the same, if not having AADHAAR card.
• Candidates are to reach at the Examination Centre with colour print out of provisional Admit Card. Candidates shall be debarred from appearing in the online test in case anomalies/ irregularities/ incorrect information are observed during initial verification at the examination venue or at any subsequent stage of selection process.
• The candidates should carry his AADHAAR Card (as displayed on their Admit Card) as proof of identity whenever they report for the Selection Test (Phase-I & II) and Medical Test. Candidates from J&K, Ladakh, Assam and Meghalaya are to carry any other valid ID Proof, if not having AADHAAR Card.
• Details about required educational qualification and physical/ medical standards are available on CASB web portal www.airmenselection.cdac.in under the candidate’s login and this information can be accessed by the candidate without signing in.
• General instructions for candidates are as follows:-
1. Candidates must indicate five choices of examination centre for STAR ONLINE EXAM and fourteen choices of ASCs for Phase-II, in order of preference while filling up the online application form. However, CASB reserves the right to allot any centre other than those mentioned in the application.
2. REQUESTS FOR CHANGE OF EXAMINATION CENTRE OR DATE OF SELECTION TEST SHALL NOT BE ENTERTAINED. Candidates are to report at the designated place on scheduled date/ time without fail. They have to cater for any contingencies including late running of trains while planning their move.
3. Candidates not reporting for the test on due date and time shall not be accommodated on other date/ sifts.
4. Duplicate/ Incomplete/ erroneously filled application shall be rejected.
5. Candidates should be prepared to stay for the entire duration of the tests under their own arrangement. No TA/ DA shall be admissible.
6. Candidates are required to provide and active e-mails ID which will be used by CASB for all communications till culmination of the entire selection process and enrolment for the particular intake. It is also advised to preserve e-mail ID and password for all future communications.
7. Candidates should apply only once in response to this advertisement.
8. Candidature of candidates who apply MORE THAN ONE IN RESPONSE TO THIS ADVERTISEMENT AND OBTAIN different registration numbers SHALL BE REJECTED. NOTE. PRESIDENT, CASB RESERVES THE RIGHT TO ALLOT EXAMINATION CENTRE FOR PHASE-I & II WHICH MAY OR MAY NOT BE AS PER CHOICE OF THE CANDIDATE.
• If there is any variation between English & Hindi/ any other regional language versions of the advertisement, English version shall be taken as authentic. 43. Any CORRIGENDUM/ CHANGES/ UPDATES shall be available ONLY on CASB web portal airmenselection.cdac.in and NO INTIMATION SHALL BE GIVEN IN ANY NEWS PAPER/ ANY OTHER MEDIA. All candidates are required to see the web portal of CASB from time to time.
• PROVISIONAL SELECT LIST (PSL). The PSL (merit-wise) will be prepared after the completion of selection test and the same will be displayed at all the ASCs and also on web portal airmenselection.cdac.in on 15 May 2026 (Separate PSL will be published for Diploma/ B.Sc in Pharmacy holders). Inclusion of names of candidates in the PSL depends upon the performance of the candidates in the selection test and the same is determined by application of cut off marks vis-à-vis number of qualified candidates in phase-II testing and anticipated vacancies. Inclusion of name in PSL does not guarantee automatic enrolment. Indian Air Force reserves the right to cancel the Selection Process even after publication of the PSL, if necessary. Enrolment is strictly in order of merit subject to medical fitness, availability of vacancies, not exceeding the age of 21 years for candidates with 10+2/ Intermediate/ Equivalent including vocational course and 24 Years for candidates holding Diploma/ B.Sc in Pharmacy, on date of enrolment and meeting all the laid down eligibility criteria as and when called for enrolment. The validity of the PSL shall be six months from the date of display and shall be applicable only for AIRMEN INTAKE 02/2026.
ENROLMENT LIST. List of candidates finally called for enrolment in AIRMEN INTAKE 02/2026 will be published on 01 June 2026. E-Call letter ONLY shall be sent to candidates called for enrolment on their Registered e-mail IDs.
