Advertisement for PhD Program at IISER - M.Pharm or MSc Apply

BRIC-National Agri-Food and Biomanufacturing Institute (BRIC-NABI) (Formerly Center of Innovative and Applied Bioprocessing) is an autonomous national institute under the Department of Biotechnology (Govt. of India). This futuristic innovation institute of its own kind in the country has a mission of advancing knowledge, leading and emerging technologies/processes relevant to the agri- food sector towards applications and products. It aims to link them with societal benefits through catalysing/promoting entrepreneurial action around bioprocesses, bio-products, and value-addition to bioproducts with special reference to the agri-food sector.

BRIC-NABI invites applications from potential candidates for admission into its Ph.D. program in Chemical Sciences for the session beginning in August 2025. Candidates with their own fellowship, such as DBT/ICAR/CSIR/UGC-JRF, etc., and with secured funding from the institute/agency are strongly encouraged to apply. The selected candidates will be enrolled in the Ph. D. program of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali, and the Ph. D. degree will be awarded by IISER, Mohali.

Eligibility
• M.Sc. in Chemistry (General / Organic / Inorganic / Physical /Pharmaceutical/ Other) or M.Pharm from a recognized University/Institute
• Those appearing in the final year of the Master’s examination and having been conferred fellowship from any of the agencies mentioned above may also be considered. However, if selected, they must provide proof of degree completion (provisional/original) and a Fellowship Award Certificate before joining.
• Having their own fellowship granted by CSIR/UGC/DBT/DST/ICAR/ICMR or other secured funding from national institutes/agencies with a valid score in any national level tests for PhD admission, such as CSIR/UGC/DBT/DST/ICAR/ICMR/JEST/JGEEBILS (TIFR/NCBS)/ICMR- JRF/GPAT/NTA.
Age limit : As per the guidelines of CSIR-UGC and DST.

Application Procedure
The interested candidates may appear for a walk-in interview on 21 July 2025, along with the application form available on the website ciab.res.in. The duly filled application form must be submitted at the time of registration from 09:00 AM to 10:30 AM on 21 July 2025. Candidates must verify their eligibility before applying, as ineligible candidates will not be interviewed.

Process of Engagement
A committee will screen the applications received to shortlist the candidates for interview. A duly constituted committee will conduct interviews with eligible applicants in person. The committee would recommend the candidates, if found suitable, for consideration for the PhD admission by the competent authority on a Fellowship/Stipendiary basis.

General Conditions
Incomplete applications and applications that are not in the proper format may be summarily rejected.

Important
• The applications should be submitted in the prescribed format that can be downloaded from the BRIC-NABI website: ciab.res.in.
• Completed applications, along with self-attested photocopies of all the relevant educational, experience, and caste (if applicable) certificates, must be submitted before interviewing.
• All the positions are based at BRIC-NABI, Mohali, Punjab, but some work may also be assigned to be carried out at outstations.
• No TA/DA will be paid to attend the interview.
• The candidates are advised to go through the BRIC-NABI website frequently to learn about recent research and developments.
• Number of candidates required for PhD admission: 5 (General), 3 (OBC), 2 (SC), 1 (ST) and 1 (EWS).
• Relaxation of age for various categories (including female candidates) shall be as per the rules of DST and other Government of India agencies.
• No selection would be made if no suitable candidate is found in any area.
• Candidates found eligible after scrutiny of applications shall be required to appear before a Selection Committee through the physical mode. Kindly note that in case there is a substantial number of applicants, the Executive Director of BRIC-NABI reserves the right to devise such criteria as deemed fit to shortlist the candidates for the interview. The decision of the Executive Director, BRIC-NABI, shall be final and binding on all in this respect.
