Dr. Bhubaneswar Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI) was set up by a voluntary organization called 'Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Society Trust'. Dr. Bhubaneswar Borooah (4th September 1893 - 25th September 1956) was a great physician, freedom fighter and philanthropist of Assam. In 1958 at a public meeting in Guwahati, a decision was taken to set up a cancer hospital at Guwahati to commemorate the memory of Dr. Bhubaneswar Borooah. Late Debendra Nath Sarma was the Founder President and Late Dr. Kanak Chandra Borooah, illustrious brother of Dr. Bhubaneswar Borooah was the Founder Secretary. Late Bimala Prasad Chaliha, Mahendra Mohan Choudhury, Bishnuram Medhi, Dr. Ghanashyam Das, Dr Birendra Nath Choudhury and many others worked relentlessly for the development of the Institute since its inception.
Applications are invited in prescribed format for the following contractual post for “Adult and Pediatric Hematolymphoid Unit” at Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI), Guwahati. The position is temporary and purely on contractual basis. It can be extended maximum upto 3 years only.
Post : Scientific Officer ‘C’ (Molecular Pathology)
Number of post : 01 (one)
Salary : Rs. 67320 /- per month (consolidated)
Qualification : M.Sc in Life Science / Biotechnology / Microbiology /Genetics / Biochemistry / Zoology / Genomics with minimum aggregate 60% marks or M.Tech (Biotechnology / Life Sciences) with minimum aggregate 60 % marks.
Any correspondence course or long distance university degrees will not be considered.
Essential Experience : At least 2 years’ experience in molecular techniques like PCR, sequencing, FISH, basic bioinformatics, basic statistics from a reputed institute is mandatory.
Desirable Experience : Laboratory accreditation related experience for 1 year
Age Limit : 32 years (Relaxable for experienced and deserving candidates)
Duration : Initial appointment is for 6 (Six) months, which is extendable solely based on the performance till co-terminus with project. The candidate will have NO right to claim for permanent employment under the mentioned Project / BBCI or for continuation of his / her services in any other project.

No separate call letter will be issued to the candidates for appearing in the interview.
