Indian Council of Medical Research is a premier medical research organization dealing with health research in various areas in collaboration with national and international agencies and through its 31 Institutes/Centres including large number of field stations situated all over the country with state of art infrastructural facilities. National AIDS Research Institute(NARI), Pune
National AIDS Research Institute (NARI) is a premier Institute devoted to research on HIV Infection and AIDS. It is a WHO collaborating Centre for HIV diagnosis and monitoring for ARV treatment for South and South East Asian Countries. The Institute has contributed to fight against HIV and AIDS through quality research encompassing clinical research for optimizing the treatment and care, development and testing new modalities for prevention and generating new information on HIV biology. The Institute has ably supported the National AIDS control Programme in its activity especially by conducting surveillance, in capacity building, by providing laboratory services and research on drug resistance. The Institute also has many national and international collaborative projects.
Essential Qualifications: M.D in Microbiology/General Medicine / Pediatrics or Ph. D in life Sciences / Biotechnology /Microbiology/Biochemistry/ immunology with research experience of 15 years in the above mentioned disciplines after MD/Ph.D in recognized institute (s) out of which at least 5 years in a managerial position to handle R&D projects independently in a team effectively in a directing position and original work as evidenced by scientific publications in indexed journals with managerial experience in a responsible capacity in a reputed Research Organizations / Institutes.
Desirable:
a. Additional post doctoral research /teaching experience particularly infectious/communicable and non-communicable diseases.
b. Knowledge of Computer Applications or Business Intelligence tools/Data Management
Job Requirement: This is a top research management post of ICMR’s National AIDS Research Institute at Pune . The mission is to establish research initiatives that have an interface with intervention and policy development to prevent and control the spread of the HIV Infection and AIDs . The Institute intends to widen and channelize its research activities to address some of current challenges especially in regard to Anti –retroviral drug resistance and co morbidities The incumbent is expected to provide leadership to formulate and implement research programmes and also collaborate with reputed Institutes in India and abroad. The Director also has to interact with various State Health Authorities for investigating outbreaks diseases. He/she should have high leadership quality for taking overall responsibility for research and managerial function and for ensuring a congenial atmosphere conducive for creative research.
National Institute of Cholera & Enteric Diseases (NICED), Kolkata:
NICED is equipped with state of the art research facilities including a modern animal house. Mandate of NICED, Kolkata includes research, training and services to society in the field of enteric diseases, vaccine research, HIV/ AIDS and other emerging viral diseases of national interest. Multidisciplinary approaches linking epidemiological findings with laboratory based analysis in the area of bacteriology, virology, parasitology, immunology, molecular biology and clinical medicine have been the major strength over all these years. Identifying strategies for prevention of infections as well as developing management guideline for care of those who are already infected have been the focus. NICED has collaborated with various national and international agencies to undertake various research projects at the bench as well as bedside and also in the communities. Apart from conducting research, NICED has been instrumental in generating trained human resources in health service sectors.

The Institute also trains health professional for better management and prevention of diarrhoeal diseases and for rapid and correct diagnosis of the etiological agents. Epidemiological investigations of diarrhoeal diseases are carried out in different parts of India. Antisera against Vibrio cholerae are raised in this Institute and supplied to the national and international laboratories. Presently, specific monoclonal antiserum for detection of Vibrio cholerae O139 strains have been developed and are supplied to WHO (SEARO), New Delhi for distribution to various national and international laboratories. As WHO phage Reference Centre, this institute receives a large number of Vibrio cholerae strains from all over the world for phage typing.

1. Pay Band-4 Rs..37400-67000 Plus Grade Pay Rs. 10000/-.
2. Allowances as per Central Government Rules are admissible on the above pay Scale.
3. Benefits of new restructured defined contributory Pension system are admissible as per the provision contained in the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs (ECD & PR Division), Notification No.5/7/2003-ECD & PR dated 22.12.2003 effective from 1.1.2004.
4. Private practice is not allowed. However, non-practicing allowance is admissible to medical graduates only as per rules.
