Pharma Fellowship Opportunity at Indian Institute of Technology

Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur was established in 2008 to foster technology education and research in India. The Institute is committed to technological thought and action to benefit the economic development of the country. Scholarship in teaching and learning, scholarship in research and creative accomplishments, and relevance to industry are the three driving forces at IIT Jodhpur.

The Institute invites applications for temporary positions in ongoing Sponsored Research and Development Projects, as well as for positions related to Institute Development.

Project Info : This project focuses on the development and application of Boron Carbide (BC) coatings on graphitic tiles to serve as robust first wall protection in the ADITYA-U Tokamak, a medium-sized Indian fusion research reactor. Graphitic materials, while thermally resilient, suffer from erosion and impurity generation under intense plasma conditions. To mitigate these issues, the project aims to deposit high-purity, adherent BC coatings that exhibit excellent plasma-facing durability, low sputtering yield, and high thermal stability. The work involves selecting suitable deposition techniques, optimizing coating parameters, and performing extensive characterization and performance validation. This effort is crucial for enhancing the lifetime, safety, and performance of plasma-facing components and contributes to the broader goal of developing fusion-grade materials for future reactors.
Job Info : 1. Develop & optimize BC thin film/coating techniques (e.g. thermal/plasma spray, sol-gel, thin films)
2. Characterize coatings using SEM, XRD, AFM, Raman, etc.
3. Liaise with private industry collaborators
4. Submit detailed technical reports aligned with BRNS visits & deliverables 5. Draft technical publications, patents, and research presentations
Application Deadline : 13-01-2026 at 11:55 PM
