The National Institute of Research in Tribal Health (NIRTH), Jabalpur is one of the 30 health research institutes working under the aegis of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Sprawling in a lush-green 44 acre campus located in the state of Madhya Pradesh - the heart of India, ICMR-NIRTH is surrounded by thickly-forested tribal dominated areas, and is the only publicly funded organization dedicated to research on health of tribes of the country.

Following positions are to be filled purely on temporary & contractual basis for a period of one year or till completion of the project entitled, “Efficacy and safety of ACT for the treatment of uncomplicated Plasmodium falciparum malaria across International borders of India: West Bangal, Meghalya, Assam and Manipur..” at ICMR-NJRTH Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh and Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh

Scientist-B (Non-Medical)

No of posts : 01 (UR)

Essential qualification : 1st Class Master’s Degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biological sciences or equivalent degree from a recognized University. Or 2nd Class Master's Degree +Ph.D degree in relevant subject from a recognized University.

Desirable qualification : (i) Doctorate Degree in relevant subject from a recognized university for candidates with first class relevant degree (ii) Additional Post doctoral research/teaching experience in relevant subjects in recognized institute(s) (iii) Knowledge of Computer Applications

Age (in years) :  Not exceeding 35 years

Consolidated monthly pay (in Rs.) : Rs 50000

Technical Assistant : Research Assistant

No of post : 05 Posts one for CMU and 04 for NIRTH study sites (UR-3, OBC-1, SC-1)

Essential qualification : Graduate in Life Science from recognized university with three year research /field work experience from a recognized Institutions Or Master degree in Life Science subjects.

Desirable qualification : Research experience in Malaria related field work, diagnosis using molecular tools in a government, autonomous, PSU, recognized organization. Hands on experience in other molecular techniques such as DNA/RNA isolation, PCR and electrophoresis etc. Knowledge of computer applications

Age (in years) :  Upto 30 years Relaxable up to five year for Govt, servant and SC/ST/ OBC as per DO P I GOI

Consolidated monthly pay (in Rs.) : Rs 31,000

Note: Selected candidates will be required to work at Parganas North. West Bengal, South Garohills, Kokrajhar, Churchandpur, Manipur and/or at ICMR-NIRTH, Jabalpur.

Terms and conditions:-
(1) Age is relaxable upto five years for Government Servants and SC/ST/OBC/PWD’s candidates in accordance with the instructions of DoPT issued from time to time only in the case of reserved posts. No relaxation will be allowed in unreserved posts. Employees of ICMR/ Ministry of Health & Family Welfare will be considered as departmental candidates for age relaxation. Departmental candidates or candidates working/have worked on the projects of ICMR Institutes/Centers shall be given one time age relaxation, provided they meet the essential qualification and experience prescribed for the post, with a view to provide them opportunity to compete with other candidates. If the candidates of reserved category are not available or not found suitable, appointment will be made from the candidates of other categories as per the recommendations of the selection committee.
(2) Age will be reckoned from the date of Walk-in-interview.
(3) Preference will be given to the candidates having higher qualification and having work experience in Malaria and Sickle cell disease research in field and Laboratory.
(4) OBC candidates are required to submit the caste certificate issued by competent authority in the prescribed format as per GOl instructions and not issued prior to three years from the date of publication of this notification.
(5) These posts are purely temporary and co-terminable with the project. Employees will be engaged on consolidated pay basis for a period of one year.
(6) The appointment will be made on the basis of result of competitive examination/test and/or interview.
(7) Candidate will not have any right to claim for regular appointment in the ICMR-NIRTH, Jabalpur or in the ICMR, New Delhi or the funding agency.
(8) Candidates willing to apply for the post may download application form from the ICMR-NIRTH Jabalpur website (www.nirth.res.in) and ICMR New Delhi website (icmr.nic.in). They are required to bring duly completed application in all respect together with recent passport size photograph and self-attested copies of mark- sheets/certificates and other relevant documents at the time of walk- in-interview.
(9) Incomplete applications will not be entertained. The Director, ICMR-NIRTH, Jabalpur reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of posts or reject the applications or cancel the notification without assigning any reasons thereof.
(10) No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in walk-in-interview. Any canvassing by or on behalf of the candidates or to bring political or other outside influence with regard to selection/recruitment shall be disqualification. Administrative Officer, ICMR-NIRTH, Jabalpur.
