Job opening for M.Pharm professionals at Dr. Reddy’s Institute of Life Sciences - 32000 salary per month

Clinical courses

The Institute of Life Sciences was conceived in the context of globalization, to foster research competence in India and to bridge the divide between academic research and the pharmaceutical & biotechnology industries. The institute was incorporated as a non-profit entity under Section 25 of the Indian companies act, facilitating operational autonomy. Construction of the ILS building comprising 44 labs and an administrative block and spanning -130,000 sq.ft. in area, began in 2004 and was completed in January 2007. The institute was inaugurated as a public-private partnership research institute on 29th January 2007, a culmination of the efforts and initiative of the Andhra Pradesh state government, Dr. Reddy's laboratories and the University of Hyderabad. The institute is located in the southeast corner of the campus of the University, one of the largest and greenest campuses in India.

Applications are invited for the following post of Junior Research Fellow (temporary position coterminous with the project) under DBT funded research project on “Understanding the functional role of ser/thr phosphatase PHLPP in inflammation/ER stress induced insulin resistance”

Project summary:
Sub-optimal response to insulin termed as insulin resistance is a hallmark of type 2 diabetes and is evident decades before frank hyperglycemia is observed. Obesity activates ER stress and inflammatory pathways that cause insulin resistance. The mechanisms governing ER stress and inflammation induced insulin resistance are far from being understood. Emerging reports suggest that cross-talk exists between ER stress and inflammation. However, how ER stress, inflammation and metabolic responses are integrated is not well understood. PHLPP belongs to a novel family of Ser/Thr phosphatases and was identified in 2005 from a database search of human genome for a phosphatase linked to a pleckstrin homology (PH) domain. The goal of this project is to examine the functional importance of PHLPP in controlling in ER stress/inflammation mediated skeletal muscle insulin resistance.

Fellowship: Rs. 25,000 plus 30% HRA (total Rs. 32,500) per month for first two years and Rs. 28,000 plus 30% HRA (total Rs. 36,400) per month for 3rd year

Duration: The duration of the fellowship is for three years. However, the performance of the candidate will be rigorously reviewed every 6 months and the fellowship will be renewed only upon satisfactory performance.
