The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) is a growing phenomenon. Located in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, RGCB began in 1990 amongst humble surroundings as a small charitable society called the Centre for Development of Education, Science and Technology (C-DEST). In 1991, recognizing its potential, the C-DEST was made a “Grant-in-Aid” institute of the Government of Kerala and renamed as Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Development of Education, Science and Technology (RGC-DEST), becoming the first institute in the country to be named after Sri Rajiv Gandhi, the young illustrious and visionary former Prime Minster of India.

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for one position of Junior Research Fellow in a DBT funded research project entitled "Characterization of the role of Nucleophosmin and other selected host proteins identified from differential proteomics in Chikungunya virus infection" in the laboratory of Dr. E Sreekumar at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS :  First Class Master's Degree in General/Medical/Veterinary Microbiology/ Bacteriology/ Virology/ Immunology; or First Class Master's Degree in any branch of Life Sciences after a Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology/ Medical/ Veterinary Sciences.

DESIRABLE: A genuine interest in virology research and a committed intention to pursue doctoral study in the field.

AGE :  Below28 years as on 22nd January, 2018.

EMOLUMENTS:  25,000 + 20% HRA per month for M.Sc. Degree holders who have qualified at NET/GATE (with valid certificate) or Post Graduates in Professional Degree course qualified candidates. M.Sc. degree holders who do not have NET/GATE certification will be eligible for 12,000/- + 20% HRA per month.

DURATION:  Two years or till termination of the project whichever is earlier.

SELECTION PROCESS :
Suitably qualified candidates may send applications in the prescribed format with a photograph, a copy of full resume indicating the percentage of Marks obtained and attested photocopies of credentials & experience to reach the undersigned on or before 22nd January, 2018. Envelopes must be superscripted with abbreviated title of the project, advertisement number and job title. Selection to the position will not entitle the candidate to any future positions at RGCB (permanent or otherwise). As with all project positions at RGCB, the position will be co terminus with end of the project. 

Only those fulfilling the above criteria need apply and will be called for interview. In the event of more than 10 candidates being short-listed by screening the applications, a written test will be conducted before the selection interview and only those who are successful in the written test will be interviewed. 

No TA/DA/Other emoluments will be given for appearing in the written test/interview/skill proficiency test.
