Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) invites applications for a JRF position in genomics/computational biology for a research project funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India.

Job Description : The candidate will be required to develop a fully functional pipeline of computational tools to analyse genome-wide next generation sequencing data to investigate binding profiles of putative eukaryotic transposase proteins. He/she will also have the opportunity to develop laboratory skills (cell culture, making libraries, standard biochemical and molecular biology procedures). The candidate should be a highly motivated, continuous learner who is able to work independently.
Eligibility : Candidates must hold a 1st Class M.Sc/M.Tech/B.Tech. in Biology/Chemistry (with adequate background in bioinformatics, computational biology) or Mathematics/ Statistics/ Physics/ Computer Science (with adequate background in biology). Candidate should have valid CSIR NET / UGC or GATE or equivalent fellowship.
Duration : Initial appointment for one year, extendable up to 3 years based on performance
Remuneration : as per DBT norms
Preferred Skills : Familiarity with the Unix/Linux operating systems, programming experience in shell scripts/C/C++/Java/R/Perl/Python languages as well as experience is using various bioinformatics software tools (e.g. BOWTIE, BWA, MACS, GeneTrack, HOMER, MEME).
