Research positions for Life Sciences, Nanobiotechnology candidates at INST

Institute of Nano Science and Technology, Mohali, Punjab, an autonomous institution of Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, has been established under the umbrella of NANO MISSION, initiated by DST to boost research and development in the field of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in India. INST started its activities on 3rd January 2013, the date on which its first Director was appointed.

Post : Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical)

Applications are invited from highly motivated and bright candidates for engagement of ‘Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical)’ in the research project funded by ‘ICMR, Government of India at Institute of Nano Science and Technology, Mohali.

Title of the Research Project : “Development of targeted nanotherapy for Spinal Muscular Atrophy”

Principal Investigator : Dr. Surajit Karmakar, Scientist-G

Essential Qualifications : 1. First Class Post Graduate Degree, including the integrated PG Degrees (Life Sciences / Nanobiotechnology). or 2. Second Class Post Graduate Degree, including the integrated PG Degrees with PhD (Life Sciences / Nanobiotechnology).

Desirable Experience :
1. First class Post Graduate Degree Candidates who have qualified UGC/NET/SLET/GATE or any equivalent National level examination will be preferred. PhD candidates with relevant first authors publications.
2. Experience in nanoparticle synthesis, characterization and biomedical application. Experience in Various Biochemical Assays, mammalian Cell Culture, Animal handling, Molecular Biology / Nanobiotechnology Techniques as well experience with nano-neurotherapeutics work and relevant publication will be given preferences.

Age limit : Must not be over 35 years as on 28.02.2026, which is relaxable for certain reserved categories as per rules of Government of India.

Fellowship : @ Rs. 56,000/- pm + HRA as applicable

Duration : Initially one year and may be extended based on performance of the candidate and availability of funds.

General Terms and Conditions
• The position is purely temporary and on contractual basis and renewable each year subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds, for a maximum of three years/till the duration of the project. The position is co-terminus with the project.
