Research Opportunity in Bioinformatics Announced at National Institute of Immunology

The National Institute of Immunology (NII) is committed to advanced research with a view to understand body's defense mechanisms for developing modalities of immune system manipulation that can intervene with disease processes. The institute’s research thrust areas under immunology and related disciplines cluster in four main themes, namely, infection and immunity, molecular design, gene regulation and reproduction and development, where cutting edge research in modern biology is being carried out employing multiple overlapping disciplines of biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology and structural biology.

Name of the Position: Project Scientist- I/II (Two positions only)

Duration: 6 Months (Six Months)
Name of the Project: “GANANA-INDIA EU Initiative for High Performance Computing” funded by Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY)-Tenable till-31.03.2028

Educational Qualifications:
 PhD in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology/ Systems Biology Biophysics or any closely related interdisciplinary area involving computation in Life sciences or Master’s Degree in Engineering and Technology from recognized university or equivalent. 
Three years of experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific activities and services.

Desirable:
• Experience in protein structure modelling, molecular simulations, or structural prediction tools (AlphaFold, Rosetta, docking workflows) will be an added advantage. 
• Exposure to machine learning / deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) for biomedical or omics applications.
• Experience in high-performance computing (HPC) environments
• Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and pipelines (e.g., sequence alignment, structural bioinformatics).
• Familiarity with data management practices, version control (Git), and collaborative development workflows.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary and collaborative projects, including coordination with national and international partners.
• Experience in preparing technical reports, documentation, and project deliverables.

Job Description
The selected candidates will support bioinformatics and computational structural biology activities focused on immunology. The role will involve large-scale structural and sequence analysis of immune complexes, development and integration of sequence–structure datasets. The candidate will also contribute to the development, training, and benchmarking of AI/ML models for antigen binding prediction using HPC/GPU resources, supporting key deliverables.


Emoluments
Project Scientist-I @ Rs. 56,000/- p.m. plus 27% HRA
Project Scientist-II @Rs. 67,000/- p.m. plus 27% HRA
