JIPMER Invites Applications for ICMR-Funded Project - Post Graduate Candidates Eligible

Applications are invited from eligible candidates to work on the following post(s) on a contract basis in a research project funded by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) at the Department of Biochemistry at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, as per the details below.

Post : Project Research Scientist – II (Non-Medical) – 01 post

Likely duration : 3 Years (Initial appointment will be given for six months, with extension based on performance) 

Consolidated remuneration : Consolidated Rs. 80,400/- per month (no other allowances are payable) 
Project title : Development of a chip to predict steroid responsiveness in children with idiopathic nephrotic syndrome : A global proteomics profiling based approach

Eligibility criteria (Qualifications and experience) 
A. Essential : 1. First class post graduate degree, including the integrated PG degrees, with three years’ experience or PhD. 
2. Second class postgraduate degree, including the integrated PG degrees with PhD and three years of experience. 
3. Disciplines : Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology

B. Desirable 
1. Experience in bioinformatics including handling of proteomics data, quality control, alignment, analysis using R/Python, target prediction, pathway enrichment analysis (GO/KEGG), and statistical data visualization. 
2. Experience in Phlebotomy, working and managing human samples. 
3. Experience in basic laboratory techniques, including qPCR, ELISA, LC-MS, sequencing: sample preparation and other laboratory skills. 
4. Excellent computer skills in MS office, Excel, MS word, PPT, email video conferencing, and cloud storage. 
5. Good communication skills, scientific writing as evidence by publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals 
6. Literature review using references manager, data handling, analysis, interpretation and report writing 
7. Good working knowledge of research databases, statistical software 
8. Trained in GLP and ethics in the conduct of research with human subjects.

Roles and responsibilities 
1. Will be responsible for implementation of overall project work-plan. 
2. Assist the Project lead in project management and execution. 
3. Overall supervision of laboratory research work related to project 
4. Collection and processing of biological samples as per study protocol. 
5. Maintain lab inventory and laboratory supplies 
6. Data collection, entry, and maintenance of study records. 
7. Coordination of patient follow-up and assistance during clinical visits. 
8. Harmonization of lab SOP for biospecimen collection, storage, complete log, quality check, and usage, along with well-annotated clinical data. 
9. Harmonization of SOP for all lab experiments. 
10. Coordination with the study team for proper functioning of the study. 
11. Communication with ICMR/IEC/other research committees for protocol amendment and annual reports; Maintenance of all documents and records related to the study, conduct periodic audits and prepare annual reports, research data analysis, writing report and manuscripts. 
12. Other research related work assigned by PI.


Maximum Age Limit : Up to 40 years

Note
1. Applications not in the prescribed format will not be processed or accepted. 
2. Applicants will be shortlisted based on the details furnished in the application, CV, and the documentary proof provided. Eligible candidates will be asked to attend the written test/interview. The final selection will be based on CV, application, and written test/interview. 

EVALUATION CRITERIA : After the evaluation of the application form, the recruitment process will be as follows: a. Written test (areas/syllabus will be related to the disciplines and criteria described in the eligibility and on the expected roles and responsibilities) b. Interview (areas/syllabus will be same as for written test) The final selection will be based on CV, application, and written test/interview.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. This position is purely on contract basis for an externally sponsored project, and the person engaged will have no claim to any regular post in JIPMER at any time. Further, the position is only for the duration of the project and based purely on external funding support for the project. 
2. The engagement may be extended or curtailed at discretion of the Project Investigator.
3. Qualification and experience should be in a relevant discipline/field and in a reputed institution/organization. The experience should have been gained after acquiring the essential qualification.
4. Qualification, experience, other terms, and conditions may be relaxed/ altered at the discretion of the Principal Investigator.
5. Valid email ID and mobile number are compulsory.
6. Consolidated salary of the post may vary from time to time. No other allowance/facilities other than consolidated salary shall be extended.
7. Submission of wrong or false information at any stage during the process of selection or canvassing of any kind will lead to disqualification or even termination if detected after the person has been engaged. 
8. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
9. Incomplete applications and applications that are not in the prescribed format and those not fulfilling the essential criteria above are likely to be summarily rejected. Candidates may attach their CVs with the application form. However, applications with CV alone and without the prescribed form and certificates will be rejected
10. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test and/or interview. Decision of the Project Investigator will be final. If the number of applications is very large, more stringent criteria than those specified above may be used to determine eligibility.


Interviews for the post may be conducted in person or via videoconferencing, at the discretion of the Principal Investigator. In the latter case, it will be the individual candidate’s responsibility to ensure access to a suitable device (computer/ laptop/ mobile) with audio and camera facilities, and an adequate internet connection.
