Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST) Invites Applications from Pharma, Chemistry & Biotechnology Candidates

Applications are invited from highly motivated and bright candidates for engagement of Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) in the research project funded by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Government of India at Institute of Nano Science and Technology, Mohali.

Post : Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical)

Title of the Research Project : Bioinspired Electro-Mechanoresponsive peptide polymer Hydrogels for Enhancing Muscle Regeneration and in vivo Sarcopenia management

Principal Investigator : Dr. Asish Pal (PI), Dr. AsifKhan Shanavas (Co-PI) and Dr. Santosh Kumar Misra (Co-PI, IIT-Kanpur)

Qualifications : Essential: First Class Post Graduate Degree, including the integrated PG Degrees in Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biological Sciences / Pharmaceutical Sciences / Material Science/ Polymer/ Nanotechnology Degree, OR Nanotechnology.

Desirable Experience : Qualified in GATE/GPAT/CSIR-UGC-NET including lectureship or equivalent examination. Candidates with previous experience in Hydrogel/ Cell culture/ Animal Handling/ Peptide and Organic Synthesis/ Polymers/ PCR handling and experience in scientific writing as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications will be preferred.

Age limit : Must not be over 35 years as 25.02.2026, which is relaxable for certain reserved categories as per rules of Government of India.

Duration : Initially one year and may be extended based on performance of the candidate and availability of funds

Fellowship : Rs. 56,000 + HRA per month

Job Profile : The selected candidate will work on the design and synthesis of peptide-polymer conjugated hydrogels for advanced biomaterials applications. The role includes mechanical and physicochemical characterization of the developed hydrogels, along with in vitro biological evaluation to study cell-scaffold interactions. The candidate should be willing to travel to IIT Kanpur to carry out in vivo animal model experimental studies as part of the project work.

General Terms and Conditions
• The position is purely temporary and on contractual basis and renewable each year subject to satisfactory performance for a maximum of three years/till the completion of the project whichever is earlier.
• The position is co-terminus with the project.
• No TA/DA will be paid to attend the interview.
