About the Role
Alembic Pharmaceuticals Ltd-Drug Discovery is seeking an Analytical Scientist with strong expertise in analytical and/or bioanalytical chemistry to support drug discovery and preclinical development programs. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in purification, chemical characterization, and bioanalytical profiling within early-stage small molecule and/or macrocyclic peptide discovery programs.
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative discovery programs in India while bridging into the U.S. biotech ecosystem through collaborations with global scientific partners. The selected candidate will gain broad multidisciplinary exposure and play a direct role in advancing novel therapeutic ideas.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and optimize HPLC and Prep-HPLC methods.
• Perform preparatory HPLC purification of crude reaction mixtures.
• Conduct HPLC purity assessment and troubleshoot analytical data.
• Support organic reaction monitoring using LC-MS.
• Operate and manage multiple Prep-HPLC systems simultaneously.
• Collaborate closely with chemistry, biology, and laboratory teams.
• Maintain accurate documentation of experiments and project updates.
• Ensure laboratory cleanliness, safety compliance, and responsible chemical handling/disposal.
• Manage timelines effectively and deliver high-quality data within project deadlines.
• Participate in project team meetings and document experiments.
Qualifications & Experience:
• B.Sc./M.Sc./M.Pharm. in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline.
• 1 to 5 years of relevant experience in Drug Discovery or Chemical CRO environments.
• Strong hands-on expertise in preparatory HPLC and Mass Spectrometry.
• Deep understanding of column chemistries and HPLC detection methods.
• Thorough knowledge of analytical technologies used for chemical characterization.
• Exposure to in-vitro ADME testing is a strong plus.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative discovery programs in India while bridging into the U.S. biotech ecosystem through collaborations with global scientific partners. This role is ideal for a driven synthetic chemist who thrives in a fast-paced research environment, takes ownership of experiments, and is motivated to deliver high-quality compounds that directly impact discovery milestones.
Key Responsibilities
• Independently execute multi-step synthesis of small molecules (mg–g scale) aligned with project timelines.
• Design and optimize efficient synthetic routes, including heterocyclic and metal-catalyzed transformations.
• Perform and troubleshoot air- and moisture-sensitive reactions, including safe handling of pyrophoric reagents.
• Deliver high-purity compounds using chromatography, recrystallization, preparative TLC, and automated purification systems (e.g., CombiFlash).
• Rapidly interpret HPLC, LC-MS, and NMR data to drive decision-making and next- step planning.
• Proactively troubleshoot synthetic challenges and improve reaction efficiency, yield, and scalability.
• Manage multiple reactions simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and productivity.
• Maintain detailed electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN) and generate clear, concise scientific reports and presentations.
• Actively contribute to team discussions, progress reviews, and scientific problem-solving.
• Uphold high standards of laboratory safety and compliance.
Qualifications & Experience
• B.Sc./M.Sc/B.Pharm/ M.Pharm. in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry
• 1–2 years of industry experience in drug discovery or a Chemical CRO environment.
• Strong command of modern synthetic organic chemistry and purification techniques.
• Demonstrated experience in multi-step synthesis and reaction optimization.
• Experience with peptide chemistry is an advantage.
• Strong analytical thinking, documentation skills, and a results-oriented mindset
