The CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) – is amongst one of the constituent research institutes of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi. Originally set up as the National Botanic Gardens (NBG) by the State Government of Uttar Pradesh (U.P.), it was taken over by the CSIR in 1953. Though, initially engaged in research in the classical botanical disciplines, the NBG went on laying an increasing emphasis, in keeping with the national needs and priorities in the field of plant sciences, on its applied and developmental research activities.

Essential Qualifications : M.Sc. in Botany / Plant Science / Plant Ecology / Forestry / Biotechnology / Environmental Science / Biodiversity & Taxonomy of Plants with CSIR/ UGC / ICAR/DBT -NET-JRF/ LS qualification or GATE. M.Sc. (55%) in one of the above subjects.
Desirable Qualification : Working experiences on floristic survey, taxonomy, genetic diversity, quantification & mapping of diversity, remote sensing & GIS application, plant ecology & population survey, documentation of ethno botanical knowledge, evaluation of economic potential, conservation & restoration of degraded habitat / population of lower and higher plants (Algae, Lichens, Bryophytes, Pteridophytes, Gymnosperms and Angiosperms).

Desirable Qualification : Preference will be given to the candidates having research papers in SCI journals and working experience about plant nutrients/ phytochemicals/ biochemical compounds analysis.

Stipend : Rs. 49000/- p.m. + HRA
Senior Project Associate : Ph.D. in one of the above subjects.

Age : Age of the candidate will be reckoned as on date of walk in interview. However, Age is relaxable for all the positions as per Government of India/CSIR instructions.

TERMS & CONDITIONS:
HRA will be admissible as per sanction of the projects.
a) The Application form will be provided at the venue on the date. However, candidates may download the application form in advance from the website nbri.res.in. At the time of interview candidates should bring one latest photograph, original documents along with self attested copy of certificates of examinations passed (starting from matriculation), certificate indicating date of birth, caste certificate (in case of SC/ST/OBC) and experience certificate, etc. Tentative mark sheets/certificates and 'result awaited' will not be considered. All eligible candidates are requested to be present at the venue on the said date one hour before the scheduled time for necessary documents verification etc.
b) Mode of Selection: Through Interview. However, if large number of candidates turn up, a Screening test comprising of multiple choice objective questions may be held for short listing the candidates for interview. The short listed candidates will be interviewed by the Selection Committee and, based on the performance in the interview; a panel of recommended candidates will be formed. The panel shall be utilized as and when the requirement arises in the projects in the relevant field/area. Candidates have the option to interact in Hindi/English before the committee. In case of turning up of large no. of candidates, interview may continue for next day.
c) The positions are purely temporary on contract basis and co- terminus with the sponsored projects. Further, the above stipend(s) is tentative and the same will be finally decided based on the availability/provision of funds in the relevant sponsored projects.
d) In case of Universities/lnstitutes awarding CGPA/SGPA/OGPA Grades etc., candidates are requested to convert the same into percentage based on the formula as per their University/lnstitute.
e) In case of large number of candidates turn up for the interview, there is a possibility that interviews may continue till late in the evening or the next day also. Therefore, candidates are requested to make their travel plans accordingly.
f) To avoid any inconvenience, only those candidates who strictly fulfill the eligibility criteria and possess the dearee/mark sheet in the aforesaid subjects should turn up for walk in interview.
No TA/DA will be admissible.
