Opportunity for Junior Research Fellow at Indian Institute of Technology

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur was established in the year 1960. The Parliament of India passed the ‘Institutes of Technology Act 1961’ declaring all the IITs as “Institutions of National Importance”. The Parliamentary Act has given absolute autonomy to the IITs. When the foundation stone of the IIT system was laid, it was perceived that taking help from the industrially advanced western countries might be lot more effective in achieving the status of a world class technical institute. Hence, IIT Kanpur had a massive collaboration with USA through a specially created programme- KIAP (Kanpur Indo American Programme).

Applications are invited for one post of JRF (Junior Research Fellow) in a Swarnajayanti Project (sponsored by Dept. of Science and Technology) entitled, “Hip Joint Replacement Systems” in the Department of Materials Sciences & Engineering, IIT Kanpur.

Minimum Qualification: Post graduate Degree in Basic Science with NET qualification, OR Graduate degree in Professional Course, with NET/GATE, OR post-graduate in Professional courses.

Work Experience: The applicant should have a strong background and sound knowledge on hands-on cell/bacteria culture facility. The person is also expected to be familiar with basic material processing and characterization tools. Person must be acquainted with sample sectioning, mounting and polishing, and gold-coating. Working knowledge of computer-based office applications (MS Office, power-point, excel/origin, etc.) is also necessary. 

Salary: Rs. 25,000

The post is purely temporary, and is for a duration of one year. Interested candidates must apply so the application is received by 5 pm of Feb. 21, 2019. Only short-listed applicants will be called for an interview (mostly starting 2 pm of Feb. 28, 2019). Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualification and work experience will not be called for the interview.  Also, possessing minimum qualification does not grant one the call for interview.

Note: No TA/DA will be provided to candidates called for interview.
