Government of Gujarat has recognized the importance of the science of biotechnology and its potentiality. With the vision to develop biotechnology sector and to provide global level opportunities, research and development in the state, the government in the year 2004, established Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission (GSBTM) as a state nodal agency dedicated to biotechnology. It has taken another important leap with a vision to build biotechnology based research and development activities by establishing an independent organization namely, Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre (GBRC) under the Department of Science and Technology.

Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre invites applications in the prescribed format for the following posts to be filled up by Deputation.

Tenure : Initially for 1 year and mutually extendable up to 4 Years

Job Requirement : 1. Supervise and develop the Centre for its Research and Development Activities
Obtain Project-based fund from various research funding agencies
Collaborate with National/international Institutions
Administration, account and finance of the Organization

Education Qualification : (i) Ph.D. in Science / Engineering / Technology / Veterinary Science / Pharmacy in any subject mentioned in the (1. Biotechnology 2. Microbiology 3. Biochemistry 4. Biosciences) to this advertisement from any of the Universities established or incorporated by or under the Central or State or a Provincial Act in India; or any other educational institution recognized as such or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956; and
(ii) Master’s degree in Science/ Engineering/ Technology / Veterinary Science/ Pharmacy in any subject mentioned in the Annexure to this advertisement with at least 60% marks from any of the Universities established or incorporated by or under the Central or State or a Provincial Act in India; or any other educational institution recognized as such or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956

Experience : Minimum 10 years of experience in direct research and development activities in genomics or bioinformatics or conservation biotechnology or marine biotechnology or related areas of research and development.

Other Conditions : The service condition of the appointee will be governed by the Government of Gujarat/GBRC rules and regulations. The Salary will be protected in the pay scale at his/her parent organization. Allowances will be governed as per rules applicable to Gujarat Civil Service Officers.

The following documents also need to be sent with the application: -
1. Vigilance Clearance
2. Integrity Certificate
3. Major/Minor Penalty statement during the last 10 years;
4. Cadre clearance from the cadre controlling/appointing authority, if applicable and
5. Photocopies of ACRS/APARS of last five years i.e. from 2020-21 to 2024-25 duly attested by an officer not below the rank of Under Secretary to the Government of India/Gujarat. If for some reasons, the ACRS/APARs of the officers have not been Written for a particular year or apart for (for more than three months) of a year, a "No Report Certificate (NRC) for that period may be sent along with the ACRS/APARS of the corresponding previous year(s).
6. The applicant should have a minimum of four years’ service left as on the last date of receipt of applications.
