Pharma, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Life Sciences Fellowship at Somaiya Vidyavihar University

Applications are invited from eligible and motivated candidates for the following temporary research positions under a Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India funded project at the Somaiya Institute for Research and Consultancy (SIRAC), Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Mumbai, under the supervision of Dr. Maushmi S. Kumar.

Project Title : “Design and Development of Phlorotannins Encapsulated Liposomal Formulations for Efficient Treatment of Melanoma and Alzheimer’s Disease”
Project Tenure : 02 Years, subject to availability of funds and satisfactory performance.
Number of Vacancies : 02 (Two)

Junior Research Fellow (JRF) - 01 post
Essential Qualification : M.Sc./M.Tech./M.Pharm. or equivalent Master’s degree in biotechnology with minimum 55% marks or equivalent CGPA from a recognized University/Institution. Candidates possessing NET/GATE/DBT-BET or other nationally recognized eligibility qualification.
Desirable Qualification : Research experience in liposomal/nanoparticle formulation, drug delivery, cell culture, molecular biology, cancer biology, neurobiology, natural products/phlorotannins, or related areas will be preferred. Track record proven by research publications will be preferred.
Monthly Fellowship / Emoluments : Rs. 37,000/- per month + 27%HRA as per approved DBT project budget and prevailing DBT/GoI norms

Project Assistant (PA) - 01 post
Essential Qualification : M.Sc./M.Tech. or equivalent Master's degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Life Sciences, or allied biological sciences with minimum 55% marks or equivalent CGPA from a recognized University/Institution.
Desirable Qualification : Candidates with experience in cell culture, formulation development, nanotechnology, phytochemical extraction/characterization, biochemical assays, molecular biology or laboratory techniques will be preferred. Track record proven by research publications will be preferred.
Monthly Fellowship / Emoluments : Rs. 25000/- per month+ 27%HRA as per approved DB F project budget and prevailing DBT/GoI norms

Nature and Duration of Appointment
The appointments are purely temporary and project based. Selected candidates will initially be appointed for one year, which may be extended annually for the remaining project period, subject to satisfactory performance, availability of funds and approval of the competent authority The appointment will be co-terminus with the project and will automatically cease upon completion/termination of the project, whichever is earlier. The position does not confer any claim for regular/permanent appointment at Somaiya Vidyavihar University.

Job Responsibilities
The selected candidates will be involved in the green extraction, processing and charactcrization of marine phlorotannins, development and characterization of phlorotannin- loaded liposomal formulations, in vitro cell culture, biochemical and molecular assays relevant to melanoma and neurodegenerative disease models. They will also be responsible for data analysis, documentation, reporting and manuscript preparation.

Age Limit : Age limit and relaxation shall be as per prevailing Government of India/DBT norms applicable to the respective position.

Selection Procedure
Candidates will be shortlisted based on their academic qualifications, research experience and suitability for the project. Shortlisted candidates may be called for an interview and/or written/technical assessment. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
