The National Institute of Immunology (NII) is committed to advanced research with a view to understand body's defense mechanisms for developing modalities of immune system manipulation that can intervene with disease processes. The institute’s research thrust areas under immunology and related disciplines cluster in four main themes, namely, infection and immunity, molecular design, gene regulation and reproduction and development, where cutting edge research in modern biology is being carried out employing multiple overlapping disciplines of biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology and structural biology.

Post : Senior Project Associate (One position only)

Applications are invited for the position of Senior Project Associate for the following time bound sponsored project

Name of the Project : ‘Establishment of new and augmentation of existing (A) BSL3 facilities at the National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi to improve research and diagnostics of existing and emerging bacterial and viral pathogens’ funded by DBT. Tenable till: April 27, 2030

Educational Qualifications : M.Sc in any branch of Life Sciences with four-years R&D experience, or PhD in any Branch of Life Sciences.

Desirable : 1. Prior experience of working in Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) and/or Animal Biosafety Level 3 (ABSL-3) laboratories.
2. Hands-on experience with bacterial and viral pathogens, mammalian and bacterial cell culture, molecular biology techniques, flow cytometry and immunological assays

Job Description :
1. The selected candidate will handle bacterial and viral pathogens, as well as laboratory animals, within BSL-3 and ABSL-3 facilities.
2. The role includes conducting experiments in BSL-3 and ABSL-3 environments for SAHAJ (external) users.
3. The candidate may also be required to assist with additional tasks and protocols, as assigned by the Facility In-Charge

Emoluments : The selected candidates will draw consolidated emoluments of Rs. 42,000/ plus 27% HRA per month (As per DST OM SR/S9/Z-05/2019 dated July 10, 2020).

General Terms and Conditions
1. The candidates selected for the above posts will be on contract for one year or duration of the project whichever is shorter, at a time.
2. No hostel/ housing facility will be provided.

4. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview, if called for.
