The National Institute of Immunology (NII) is committed to advanced research with a view to understand body's defense mechanisms for developing modalities of immune system manipulation that can intervene with disease processes. Post : Research Associate-I / SRF (Project) (One position only)

Duration : 06 Months (Six months)
Name of the Project : “Understanding mitochondrial surface-associated degradation of pathogenically misfolded in controlling cytosolic proteostasis during neurodegenerative diseases” funded by ANRF

Educational Qualifications : For RA-I: PhD in any branch of Biological Science with adequate training in molecular genetics. For SRF: M.Sc. or M.Tech. in any area of Life Sciences with a good academic record and at least 2 years of research experience in molecular genetics in laboratory settings. The candidates must have cleared any National Level Eligibility Test such as NET/GATE etc.

Job Description : This is a multi-institutional program with CSIR-IGIB and Shiv Nadar Institute of Eminence. At NII, the project requires experimentation using C. elegans as a model system. The candidate will perform extensive molecular genetics analysis, fluorescence and confocal microscopy, generation of transgenic lines, mitochondrial isolation, proteomics, and metabolomics.

Skill Requirements : C. elegans genetics and cell biology skills will be needed for the project. Candidates with skills in mitochondrial biology, proteomics, metabolomics, and cell culture will be preferred.
Emoluments : For RA-I: Rs. 58,000/- per month plus 30% HRA. For SRF: Rs. 42,000/- per month plus 30% HRA. (As per DST OM dated 26.06.2023)
