The history of the IIT system dates back to 1946 when a committee was set up by Hon'ble Sir Jogendra Singh, Member of the Viceroy's Executive Council, Department of Education, Health and Agriculture to consider the setting up of Higher Technical Institutions for post war industrial development in India. The 22 member committee headed by Sri N.R.Sarkar, in its report, recommended the establishment of four Higher Technical Institutions in the Eastern, Western, Northern and Southern regions, possibly on the lines of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, with a number of secondary institutions affiliated to it.

Project Title : 3D-Printed Dissolvable Microneedle Array with baselayer of Transparent, Wet-Adhesive Hydrogel Lens for Corneal Alkali Burn to prevent neovascularization, inflammation, scarring, microbial infection with corneal regeneartion (3DmicroLens)(MBR)

Qualifications and Relevant Experience : 1. Post Graduate Degree, including the integrated PG degrees
2. For Engineering / IT / CS - Four Years Graduate Degree. **HRA as admissible Age relaxation upto 5 years may be granted to deserving candidates having experience of working in Government Research Organization on a case-to-case basis, by DG, ICMR/Head of the Institution. However, the contract for engagement of project staff shall be upto one year, which shall be extendable up to three-years, subject to requirement and performance review by the PI/Director (as three years is the average tenure of research projects in ICMR). In exceptional cases, extension may be granted by the Director General ICMR, up to five-years, subject to nature and requirement (s) of the project. The fixed term engagement (s) i.e. initial as well as extended, shall automatically cease/conclude, if the same is not extended within the tenure. No retrospective extension of engagement (s) shall be permissible.

Desirable Criteria : Master’s degree in Biotechnology / Biomedical / Polymer / Molecular Biology preferred. Candidates with research experience in microneedle fabrication and cell culture handling are encouraged to apply..

Proposed Fellowship : Upto Rs.61,600(depending upon qualification & experience)

Age Limit : 40 (Age rules may be relaxed upon fulfilling sponsor agency rules, if any)
Tenure : 36 Months or the termination of the project, whichever is earlier.
