The International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), established in 1983, is an international, intergovernmental organisation conceived as a Centre of excellence for research, training and technology transfer to industry in the field of biotechnology to promote sustainable global development. The Centre conducts innovative research in life sciences and strengthens the research capability of its over 60 Member States through training, funding programs and advisory services. Post : Research Associate
One Research Associate (RA) position is immediately available at ICGEB New Delhi, in the Yeast Biofuel Group under the DBT-supported project, “Hydrocarbons from Synthetic Microbes and Scale-Up Processing”. This position is available for one year based on the candidate's performance and the availability of funds.
Job description : The selected candidate will perform metabolic engineering of yeast strains using synthetic biology tools to express heterologous genes, followed by process development for hydrocarbon production using engineered/synthetic microbes. A candidate with prior research experience in molecular biology, genetic engineering, an expert in scientific writing skills and interpretation of results, and willing to explore new tools for implementing the proposed objectives is desirable.
RA Eligibility : PhD in Life Sciences / Biotechnology with prior experience in wet lab and molecular biology using conventional or non-conventional yeast strains. In-silico designing of vectors, DNA cloning, Genetic transformation of microorganisms, PCR, RT-PCR, GC-MS, Southern blot analysis, etc.
