Applications are invited through E-mail for the following post to be filled up through personal interview (offline) under the time bound research project entitled “Development and evaluation of tripartite therapy combining bacteriophages, enzymes, and endolysins to target dual-species biofilms of antimicrobial-resistant priority pathogens” funded by Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) under Prime Minister's Early Career Research Grant (PM-ECRG) scheme, under the guidance of Dr. Swati Joshi, Scientist-“C” at ICMR-National Institute of Occupational Health (NIOH) Ahmedabad. The posts are purely temporary, ad-hoc & on contractual basis and co-terminus with the project.

Essential Qualifications : Post graduate (M.Sc. or M.Tech.) degree in Life Sciences, Microbiology, Biotechnology and allied subjects from a recognized university and Selected through a process described through any one of the following: a. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests - CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE. b. The selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER
Desirable Qualifications : Practical Knowledge of microbiological techniques e.g. microscopy, microbial culture, phage isolation etc., biochemical techniques e.g. SDA- PAGE, Western blotting, protein purification, enzyme assays etc., Molecular biology techniques e.g. nucleic acid isolation, PCR, molecular cloning, recombinant protein expression etc.
Knowledge of Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, data analysis, data representation for report and publication, efficiency in MS-Word, Power- point, Excel, SPSS/Prism etc., proficiency in written and spoken English language and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
Age : Candidates should not be more than 28 years of age on the closing date of the advertisement. The age relaxation to SC/ ST/ OBC/ Women/ Differently abled candidates is as per Govt of India norms
Consolidated Salary : Rs. 37000/- + 11100/- (30% HRA) = Rs. 48100/- per month (1st and 2nd yr)
Rs. 42000/- + 12600/- (30% HRA) = Rs. 54600/- per month (3rd yr)

Specific Roles & Responsibilities
• Isolation and characterization of phages from environmental samples
• Establishment and characterization of bacterial biofilms
• Gene cloning, protein expression and purification
• Preparation and testing of different phage-protein formulations against microbial pathogens
• Document results and Communicate them succinctly including writing and speaking
• Preparing and submitting project reports and manuscripts
• Any other work as assigned by PI
Job Tenure : Initially for a period of one year and renewable subsequently based on performance or until the termination of the project
Terms & Conditions
The engagement to the project position will be subject to the following terms and conditions: The interested candidates need to submit their Bio-Data with self-attested copies of the certificates (a) Proof of Date of Birth (b) Qualification (c) Experience (d) Recent Passport size photograph, e) Reserved Category certificate etc. at the time of Application. Only shortlisted candidates will be allowed for interview through personal discussion after verification of documents. The original certificates may be produced for verification on demand.
1. Qualification & experience required are as per ANRF guidelines; experience shall be counted after acquiring the essential qualification; age limit and experience will be as per ANRF guidelines.
2. The short listed candidates will be intimated though e-mail only on further procedures of recruitment.
3. Submission of incorrect or false information during the process of personal discussion shall disqualify the candidature.
4. Any further information may be downloaded from ICMR-NIOH website, which will be updated from time to time. Date of personal discussion may be changed due to administrative reasons. Hence, candidates are advised to check website before appearing for personal discussion.
5. The decision of the Director, ICMR- National Institute of Occupational Health, Ahmedabad will be final in this regard. Canvassing in any form will be considered as a disqualification.
6. The engagement to the project position is purely on time bound contract basis and the Competent Authority reserves the right to dispense with the engagement, at any time without assigning any reasons.
7. The engagement can be terminated during the tenure at any time by giving one-month notice on either side. Your engagement can be terminated forthwith or before expiry of the notice period, by making payment of a sum equivalent to one-month project position remuneration. However, you will not be permitted to surrender one-month remuneration, in lieu of the period of notice of unexpired portion thereof and you will be required to serve the full period of notice. (Note-The mandate of one-month notice from either side, as stated herein, will not be applicable in case the project is decided to be closed by the competent authority within a period of less than 30days/one month.)
8. The engagement will be under the Administrative control of the ICMR-NIOH and will be subject to all the rules and regulations of the ICMR-NIOH as applicable to fixed term project positions/persons during the tenure/period of engagement.
9. As per project requirement the posting will be at office/field/site work/travel etc. at the study site; however, may be temporarily posted to other study sites in the interest of project work.
10. There will not be entitlement to any other allowances such as Dearness Allowance, Transport Allowance, LTC, Bonus, etc. Also, incumbent shall not be provided any medical facility under CGHS / CS (MA) Rules as admissible to regular employees, and not entitled for any terminal benefits after completion of project period or otherwise.
11. No travelling and/or daily allowance will be admissible either for joining the assignment or on expiry of the contract. However, while travelling in connection with the assigned work during the period of engagement, you will be entitled to draw TA/DA in accordance with your Stipend/Emoluments, but it will not be at par with the regular/permanent employees of ICMR.
12. Age relaxation will be admissible as per GoI and ICMR norms. Age concession to the extent of service rendered in other ICMR research projects will also be admissible for experienced and skilled persons.
13. Candidates employed in Govt. Service /Semi Govt. /Autonomous Bodies of State/Central Govt. should submit a "No Objection Certificate” front their employer at the time of written test /walk-in Interview.
14. There will not have any claim on a regular post in ICMR-NIOH/Centre of ICMR-NIOH or in any Dept. of GOI. An undertaking to this effect before joining the project position.
