M.Pharm, M.Sc Job in Research at Birla Institute of Technology and Science

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science, BITS Pilani is an all-India Institute for higher education. The primary motive of BITS is to train young men and women able and eager to create and put into action such ideas, methods, techniques and information. Post : Junior Research Fellow (JRF) or Senior Research Fellow (SRF)

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for one fellowship position - as either Junior Research Fellow (JRF) or Senior Research Fellow (SRF) depending on the eligibility and experience - to work on the following Indo-Australian project (between BITS Pilani and CSIRO Australia) sponsored by Australian Government, under the supervision of Dr. S. Murugesan (Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacy, BITS, Pilani Campus, Pilani-333031, Rajasthan), and co-supervision of Professor S. S. Vasan of Australia’s national science agency CSIRO.

Title of the project : The ‘sySTEMs’ initiative : systems biology-augmented, stem cell-derived, multi-tissue panel for rapid screening of approved drugs as potential COVID-19 treatments.
Duration of the project : Up to one year
Fellowship amount : JRF : 31000 /- pm, SRF : 35000 /- pm. Those with at least two years’ relevant work experience will be employed as SRF. Eligibility requirements :
1. M.Pharm / M.S. Pharm / M.Sc. (Pharmaceutical Chemistry / Medicinal Chemistry / Pharmaco-informatics with a minimum of 70% aggregate in the relevant field of specialization).
2. Knowledge of drug categories / classes / groups and drug databases will be desirable.
3. Experience in database handling, curation and/or molecular modeling techniques is a bonus.


Desirable : Ability to work in an interdisciplinary project. Good written and verbal English language skills are essential. Candidates with working knowledge of classifying a drug under the WHO Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical classification system, or United States Pharmacopeia, or similar. Any knowledge of IT, is a bonus, and GPAT / NET qualification is desirable.
