Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST), Mohali (Punjab), an autonomous institution of Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, has been established under the umbrella of NANO MISSION, initiated by DST to boost research and development in the field of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in India. INST started its activities on 3rd January 2013, the date on which its first Director was appointed. The institute is currently operating from its transit campus at Habitat Centre, Sector-64, Phase-X, Mohali, Punjab.

Post : Junior Research Fellow

Applications are invited from motivated and bright candidates for the position of a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the research project funded under DST-Nano Mission scheme, Government of India, at the Institute of Nano Science and Technology, Mohali

Title of the Research Project: "Exploring the shell proteins of BMCPs as potential substrate for fabrication of Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Nanomaterials".

Brief details of the work to be undertaken: Development of hybrid bio-inorganic materials for varied applications using the coat proteins of bacterial metabolosomes. The work will require expression, purification of recombinant bacterial proteins, and their biophysical characterization using spectroscopic, imaging and analytical techniques, and development of functional assays for bioreactors.

Qualifications:
1. Masters in Biophysics/Biochemistry/Chemistry/Biotechnology/Pharmacy or Related Area
2. Qualified any one of the following:
a. CSIR/UGC National Eligibility test or LS
b. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering(GATE)
c. Joint Admission Test (JAM)
d. Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT)
e. ICMR-JRF/ICAR-AICE/JEST/JGEEBILS

Age limit: Must not be over 28 years as on 26th August, 2019 which is relaxable for certain reserved categories as per the rules of the Government of India

Salary: Rs. 25,000/- + 16% HRA

Duration: Initially for one year and may be extended till the project end based upon the performance of the candidate and the availability of funds.

General Terms and Conditions:
The position is purely temporary and on contractual basis. The position is co-terminus with the project. Candidate selected for this position can also apply for the regular PhD program of INST provided they satisfy the eligibility criteria. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
