Applications are invited for the position of Project Research Scientist -1 (non-medical) in the Department of Biological Sciences at BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus, Goa for an ICMR sponsored research project titled “Development of biocompatible nanotechnology based non-viral delivery vehicle for micro dystrophin gene delivery as therapeutics for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy ICMR proposal ID : IRIS ID 2023-19776/F2.”

Principal Investigator : Prof. Meenal Kowshik Co-Investigators: Dr. Arun Shastry (Dystrophy Annihilation Research Trust, Bengaluru) and Dr. Indrani Talukdar (BITS Goa)
Broad area of Research : The project involves the development of nano-vehicles for delivery of the dystrophin gene. The nanocarrier will be functionalized for efficient delivery to target cells to achieve high selectivity and better bioavailability. Cell culture and animal studies will be carried out to study the efficiency of delivery and expression profile of the target gene.
Qualification : (1) First-class postgraduate degree including the integrated PG degree or (2) Second-class postgraduate degree, including the integrated PG degree with Ph.D. in the area of Biotechnology/ Microbiology/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology from reputed University/Institute. Scholars who have qualified the National Eligibility Tests- CSIR –UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE. Prior exposure to animal cell culture techniques and/or molecular biology techniques will be an advantage.
Duration of the project : 10 months
Accommodation : Hostel accommodation may be provided subject to availability and will be governed by the rules and regulations of the Institute prevailing at the time of joining of the candidate.
Fellowship Amount (Rs.) : 56,000/- pm + HRA 18%
