Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), an institute in the ambit of Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC) under the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, invites application for the positions of Ph.D. JRF for the year 2026. The main mandate of IBSD is conservation and sustainable utilization of bioresources for the socio-economic development of the North Eastern Region of India, which is a genetic treasure trove of plants, animals and microbial resources. This region falls among the world's top 10 Biodiversity Hotspots. The broad areas of research are in Plant Bioresources, Microbial Resources, Natural Product Chemistry, Animal Bioresources and Bioinformatics and Database Management.
Ph.D. Admissions-2026 (Junior Research Fellows)
Minimum qualification : Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Environmental Studies, Bioinformatics. Or 4-years Bachelor’s degree in Science/Technology, or equivalent (including M.V.Sc., MBBS, etc) from a recognized university. Candidates with valid national fellowship (CSIR-UGC NET, DBT-JRF, GATE etc.) will be given preferences.
Selection Procedure : Selection will be based on interview of the JRF and INSPIRE qualified candidates only. The selected candidates will be registered for BRIC-DBT-RCB-Ph.D. programme and he/she can be placed in any Centres of the IBSD.
Application Procedure : Application should be sent in the prescribed application form (available on the IBSD website). The candidate should send the completed and signed form along with self attested copies of all supporting certificate and mark sheets along with an application fee of Rs.500/- (for GEN) & Rs.250/- for (OBC/PH/SC/ST), for which a Demand Draft in favour of Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development, payable at Imphal, Manipur, should be attached with the application form. Candidates are advised to provide their email ID and mobile number as they would be contacted electronically by the Institute.

Fellowship : The fellowship and other emoluments will be as per the guidelines of the funding agencies –DST/DBT/CSIR/ICMR and as revised from time to time.
Fees for the enrolment in Ph.D. programme : The selected candidates have to be enrolled to Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad and should pay fees as per the rules of RCB.
