National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Guwahati (NIPER-G) is an autonomous institute of National importance and the first national pharma institute in northeast India set up by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt. of India by an act of parliament, to impart high-quality Education & Research in the area of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The Institute intends to fill the following Project positions through Online/Physical interviews for the project entitled “Synthesis and Characterisation of Standards of Certain Drugs and Their Metabolites” (GAP-127) sponsored by the National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL) New Delhi, Govt. of India.
Junior Research Fellow (JRF) - One Post
Fellowship : Rs. 37,000 + 18% HRA
Project : Synthesis and Characterisation of Standards of Certain Drugs and Their Metabolites. (GAP-127)
Sponsoring Agency : National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL) New Delhi, Govt. of India.
Qualifications and Experience Essential : M.S./M.Pharm./M.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Analysis/Analytical Chemistry/Quality Assurance or equivalent with minimum 60% marks from a recognised university. The candidate should have qualified GPAT/GATE/CSIR-NET or any national-level examination.
Desirable : Experience in HPLC-PDA/MS/MS, Preparative HPLC for purification of metabolites/fractions, analytical and bioanalytical method development & validation, preclinical DMPK studies, and Quality Assurance. Preference will be given to candidates with SCI-indexed publications. Additional Preference: Preference will also be given to candidates with prior experience in handling complex molecules such as glucuronides, sulfates/sulfurylated compounds, and steroidal compounds for HPLC analysis.
Max. Age Limit : 32 years as on the last date of application (Age relaxation will be provided as per GoI norms)
Research Associate-(RA- I/II/III) - One Post
Fellowship : Rs. 58,000 + 18% HRA (Fellowship amount will be change according to the post)

Qualifications and Experience Essential : Ph.D. in Chemistry/Medicinal Chemistry/Pharmaceutical Chemistry OR M.Pharm./MS(Pharm)/M.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry/Medicinal Chemistry/Chemistry with at least 3 years of research/teaching experience. The applicant must have at least one research publication as a first author in a standard, refereed/SCI journal.
Desirable : Preference will be given to the candidate with :
• Candidates with strong research experience in organic synthesis, particularly sustainable organic synthesis, design and synthesis of bioactive small molecules, and drug discovery (Medicinal Chemistry) will be preferred. Additional preference will be given to candidates with a strong understanding of organic reaction mechanisms, synthetic planning, alkylation, reaction yields, hydroboration, and related concepts.
• Preference will also be given to candidates with prior experience in handling complex molecules such as glucuronides, sulfates/sulfurylated compounds, and steroidal compounds
Max. Age Limit : 35 years, relaxable up to 5 years in the case of SC/ST/OBC, physically handicapped and women applicants
General Instructions :
1. Nationality: Only candidates of Indian Nationality are eligible to apply for these positions.
2. Application Timeline: Interested candidates must apply using the prescribed format available on the Institute website (niperguwahati.ac.in). The application portal will be active from 30.04.2026 to 15.05.2026.
3. Application Mode: It is mandatory to submit applications online. No other forms of application will be entertained. Candidates are advised to keep high-quality scanned copies of all required supporting documents ready before starting the application process. 4. Eligibility Verification: Candidates must ensure they meet the minimum essential qualifications, age, and experience criteria as laid down in the advertisement. Screening will be based strictly on the data submitted in the application form. Providing false or incorrect information will lead to immediate rejection of the candidature at any stage of the recruitment process.
5. Finality of Submission: Once an application is submitted, it cannot be altered or resubmitted. No requests for changes to data or particulars will be entertained after the final submission.
6. Documentation: Incomplete applications or those missing self-attested supporting documents (e.g., Proof of Date of Birth, Degree Certificates, Mark Sheets, and Experience Certificates) will be summarily rejected.
7. Relaxation of Criteria: Upon the recommendation of the Screening/Selection Committee, the Competent Authority reserves the right to relax age and experience requirements in exceptionally meritorious cases.
8. Selection Prerogative: Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview call. The Institute reserves the right to set higher benchmarks for shortlisting and the right not to fill any of the advertised positions due to administrative exigencies.
9. Communication: All official intimations will be sent exclusively via Email or hosted on the Institute website. Candidates should regularly check their registered email and the NIPER Guwahati website for updates.
10. Language Interpretation: In the event of any dispute regarding the interpretation of clauses in versions other than English, the English version available on the NIPER Guwahati website shall be considered authoritative.
11. Canvassing: CANVASSING IN ANY FORM WILL LEAD TO AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATION OF THE CANDIDATURE.
12. Nature of Appointment: Appointments are strictly on a contractual basis for one year, extendable based on performance and fund availability. These are temporary project positions and do not carry any claim for regularization or permanent appointment against any Institute post. Any subsequent engagement will be treated as a fresh appointment.
13. Age Limit: The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be the last date of application i.e., 15.05.2026.
14. Interview Mode: Interviews will be conducted in a hybrid mode (both physical and online).
15. Attendance Preference: While candidates are encouraged to attend the interview physically, those unable to do so may participate online. The list of shortlisted candidates will be displayed on the Institute website; shortlisted individuals will receive the link via email one day prior to the scheduled interview.
