BHU looking for PG in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry candidates

Applications are invited for the post of Junior Research Assistant (JRA) in a research project entitled “Development of Indigenous Cyanobacterial-Microalgal Consortia for Sustainable Rice Growth” (BHU Code No.: P-26/0157) funded by Council of Science and Technology, Uttar Pradesh (CSTUP) (Sanction order no.: CST/Env./D-1244 dated 23/08/2025; Project ID: 5835). The selected candidate will join and work in the “Cyanobacterial Lab” at the Department of Botany, MMV, BHU.

Post : Junior Research Assistant (JRA)

Number of Positions : One (01) 
Project Duration : Three (03) years (co-terminus with the project) 

Age Limit : 28 years as of 01.04.2025 (age relaxation as per GoI rules for reserved category candidates) 

Fellowship / monthly compensation : Rs 25000/- month (consolidated) for first two years (as JRA) and Rs 28000/ month (consolidated) for the third year as Senior Research Assistant (SRA). 

Essential Qualifications : The candidate should hold any of the following degree : Master’s in Botany, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Bioscience, Biochemistry environmental sciences or any other relevant allied subject with 1st division in Graduate and Post Graduate examinations. Candidates with higher qualifications may also apply. 

Desirable Skills : Experience in microbiology, algal biology, rice plant research and maintenance will be given preference.

1. The applicant preferably should be a resident of Uttar Pradesh.
2. Mere possessing the proscribed qualification docs not ensure that the candidate will be called for an interview. The candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of merit and need of the project.
3. Shortlisted candidates will be notified via e-mail. Applicants are therefore required to provide a valid e-mail address in their applications.
4. Shortlisted candidates should come physically for the interview on the interview date with an updated CV along with original and self-attested photocopies of mark sheets/certificates in support of their academic qualifications. Online mode of interview can be also considered on proper justification.
5. The applicant will be responsible for the authenticity of the information, other documents, and photographs submitted.
6. Candidates with desirable experiences and/or valid NET/GATE certificates may be given preferences.
7. Qualifications and experiences may be relaxed for the exceptional candidates.
8. The university reserves the right to accept/reject the application at any time during the entire tenure of the project.
9. No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the interview.
10. The association between the PI and the candidate can be discontinued at any time by giving one month’s notice in writing either by the PI of the project to the candidate, or by the candidate to the PI of the project.
11. The appointment will be purely temporary on contract basis. The initial appointment will be for one year and may extended until the duration of the project (maximum upto 3 years) based on the performance of the candidate.
