Online Applications are invited for post of Scientist at NIRRCH

The mandate of the Institute is to address the reproductive health issues of national and global relevance. The institute was established with an objective to develop novel and efficacious modalities for fertility regulation through research and thereby assist the government in its mission to stem the population boom. In the past four decades, however, the institute has grown beyond the mandate with which it was entrusted at the time of its genesis. In the wake of new challenges posed by new socio-economic structure, lifestyle modifications, environmental hazards etc.

Online Applications are invited on or before 15th May 2024 for the following temporary vacancies under non-institutional ad-hoc project at ICMR-National Institute for Research in Reproductive and Child Health (NIRRCH), Mumbai 400 012. All the applications would be screened and only shortlisted candidates would be invited for interview/personal discussion at ICMR-National Institute for Research in Reproductive and Child Health (NIRRCH), Mumbai 400012. Shortlisted candidates will be informed regarding details of interview through email later.

Title of project : “Utilizing the Model Rural Health Research Units to improve snakebite management through rationalized antivenom distribution models in India: An implementation research project” funded by Department of Health Research (DHR), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India

Scientist ‘B’ (Non-Medical) [1 No. - OBC] 
Posting at : Model Rural Health Research Unit (MRHRU), Vani and District Health Office, Nashik, Maharashtra. 
Consolidated Salary : Rs. 56,000/- plus HRA as applicable 
Essential Qualification : First class Master’s degree in Public Health / Health Economics from a recognized university OR Second class Masters’ degree + Ph. D degree in Public Health / Health Economics from a recognized university 
Desirable : • One-year experience of working in research including experience in health economics and cost-effectiveness analysis 
• Experience in Health Technology Assessment (HTA) in Public / Private sector 
• Working knowledge of R- Studio and Decision Tree software 
Age Limit : 35 Years 
Duration : One year (Further extension for additional one year depending upon release of funds by DHR) 
Job Responsibilities : • Data collection from Nashik district 
• Data management 
• Reporting to ICMR-NIRRCH, Mumbai as required 
• Data analysis including cost- effectiveness analysis 
• Coordination between ICMR- NIRRCH, Mumbai and State Health System 
• Any other work as instructed by the PI


Scientist ‘B’ (Non-Medical) [1 No. - OBC] 
Posting at :  Model Rural Health Research Unit (MRHRU), Vani, District Nashik and District Health Office, Nandurbar, Maharashtra.) 
Consolidated Salary : 56,000/- plus HRA as applicable 
Essential Qualification : First class Master’s degree in Public Health / Biostatistics / Epidemiology from a recognized university OR Second Class Masters’ degree + Ph. D degree in Public Health / Biostatistics / Epidemiology from a recognized university 
Desirable :  • One-year experience of working in research including experience in health systems and data collection 
• Experience in data management and proficiency in MS-Excel / SPSS 
• Working knowledge of R- studio 
Age Limit : 35 Years
Duration : One year (Further extension for additional one year depending upon release of funds by DHR) 
Job Responsibilities : • Data collection from respective district 
• Data management 
• Regular reporting to Study Site Investigators 
• Data analysis • Reporting to ICMR-NIRRCH, Mumbai as required
 • Coordination between Study site and State Health System 
• Any other work as instructed by the PI at NIRRCH

Scientist ‘C’ (Non-Medical) [1 No. - UR] 
Posting at : ICMR-NIRRCH, Mumbai, Maharashtra. 
Consolidated Salary : 67,000/- plus HRA as applicable 
Essential Qualification : First Class Post Graduate Degree from a Recognized University in Public Health / Biostatistics / Epidemiology / Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence or PhD OR Second Class Post Graduate from a recognized university in Public Health / Biostatistics / Epidemiology / Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence with PhD and 3 years’ experience 
Desirable : • Two years’ experience of working in research including experience in spatial mapping and proficiency in use of R- Studio 
• Hands on experience of working with QGIS / ArcGIS, experience in data management in Public / Private sector 
• Clinical and public health research experience 
• Experience of working in tribal/rural area 
Age Limit : 40 Years 
Duration : One year (Further extension for additional one year depending upon release of funds by DHR) 
Job Responsibilities : • Coordinating activities at all study sites in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Odisha 
• Data management
 • Training and Supervision of project staff 
• Regular monitoring visits to study sites 
• Data analysis including spatial mapping
 • Facilitating administrative and logistics’ requirement 
• Any other work as instructed by the PI at NIRRCH


General Instructions
1. Qualification/degree should be from a reputed Institution/University. 
2. Mere fulfilling the essential qualification/experience does not guarantee for selection. 
3. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification. 
4. Age relaxation is admissible to SC/ST/OBC candidates as per Government of India Rules. 
5. No TA/DA will be paid either for attending the interview or joining the post. 
6. Persons already in regular time scale service under any Government Department / Organizations are not eligible. 
7. Written test in the subject area will be held, if required, to shortlist candidates for the interview depending upon the number of candidates. 
8. It may be mentioned here that incomplete applications, application not submitted in prescribed format and application without supportive documents asked for shall be summarily rejected 
9. The Director & appointing authority has the right to accept/reject any application without assigning any reason and no correspondence in this matter will be entertained. 
10. Please give the details of two responsible persons of your locality or two references to whom you are known. 

11. The offer of engagement will be subject to verification of original certificates as per the advertisement. If the candidate is not eligible, his / her candidature will be cancelled at any stage of the recruitment process. If the candidate qualifies in the selection process and subsequently, it is found that he / she does not fulfil the eligibility criteria, his / her candidature will be cancelled and if appointed, services so obtained will be terminated without any notice or compensation. 
12. Only shortlisted candidates will be called to attend online/Physical interview on Webex video call app at scheduled date & time. Bad connection/ connection failure from any side will not be the responsibility of ICMR-NIRRCH, Mumbai. Details about interview will be conveyed to shortlisted candidate by mail. 
13. The above post/s are filled-up purely on contractual basis & the candidate will have no right to claim for any type of Permanent Employment under ICMR-NIRRCH or continuation of his/her services in any other project 
14. Candidates who will be interviewed online, if they are selected, will have to produce original documents of their Qualification, Age & Experience before joining. If they are not found entitled, their selection will be cancelled immediately. 
15. Please note that the Institute does not have residential facilities for contractual staff.
