Job Description
PURPOSE

The Staff Research Associate I (SRA I) will synthesize small-molecule proteostasis modulators and study their effects on cancer cells, including the cancer cell proteome. This research will involve cutting-edge synthetic methods (including transition metal-catalyzed coupling reactions), mammalian cell culture, and proteomics using quantitative mass spectrometry.
DEPARTMENT OF CELLULAR AND MOLECULAR PHARMACOLOGY
The Department of Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology (CMP) within the UCSF School of Medicine pursues two related academic goals:
[1] to discover new knowledge through innovative research on chemical and biological phenomena;
[2] to transmit knowledge to students (graduate students, postdoctoral colleagues, and students and fellows in medicine, pharmacy and dentistry) at the conceptual and empirical levels.

Candidate Profile
B.S. degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or biology
• Research experience in a chemistry or chemical biology laboratory
• Experience with transition metal catalysis
• Experience investigating the effects of small molecules in cancer models
• Experience in quantitative proteomics and mass spectrometry
