The Department of Pharmacy Practice and Administration focuses on the clinical and regulatory aspects of pharmacy practice. The mission of the Department is to participate in the preparation of students to provide pharmaceutical care in its varied practice settings. Graduating students are equipped with the necessary skills to adapt to a changing healthcare environment. Students are also provided with scientific fundamentals, ethics, and attitudes necessary to adapt their careers to changes in healthcare over their lifetime. This mission supports the overall mission of the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy in four critical areas: teaching, practice, scholarship, and service.

Saint Barnabas Medical Center (SBMC) is a 601 bed hospital that is committed to providing the highest quality of care for our patients and their families. Opened in 1865, Saint Barnabas Medical Center is New Jersey’s oldest nonprofit, nonsectarian hospital, and works to exceed our community’s highest expectation for compassionate, comprehensive healthcare. The hospital treats more than 32,500 inpatients and over 100,000 adult and pediatric emergency department patients each year. The hospital houses the only certified burn center in the state, and has the third largest renal transplant program in the country. SBMC is a major teaching affiliate of Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. There are currently two Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy faculty members at SBMC in the areas of Cardiology and Pediatrics. There are also several hospital-based clinical practitioners.

The Critical Care Faculty member would work with pharmacy, medical, and nursing staff to optimize the care of patients in the combined medical and surgical Intensive Care Unit. The Faculty member would have an active role on the Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee and would also be involved in the education of medical, nursing and pharmacy staff (including pharmacy residents), medication guideline development, and participating in codes.

Candidate Profile:
Applicants must have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, and have completed at least two years of residency training or equivalent experience. Applicants must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of New Jersey.
