Kite, a Gilead Company, is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of novel cancer immunotherapy products designed to harness the power of a patient’s own immune system to selectively target and kill cancer cells.  Our core technology involves the genetic engineering of T cells, or white blood cells, to express either chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) or T cell receptors (TCRs) for the treatment of advanced solid and hematological malignancies.  We are on a rapid growth trajectory and have a highly energized and accomplished team driving to new frontiers of care for cancer patients.

Post : Scientist, Research-Process Science

Job Description
• Serve as a key link between Research and Product Sciences Group jointly developing a process to manufacture fully personalized T cell therapies
• Qualify early-stage processes and assays developed by Research for transfer to Process Sciences, including but not limited to, drafting, conducting and documenting the necessary validation studies
• Evaluate novel technologies for suitability to achieve or improve process specifications
• Participate in technology transfer efforts into Product Sciences both from internal Research as well as external partners in academia and industry, particularly providing technical support with regards to conducting immunological assays
• Analyze and present project results to diverse, cross-functional audiences;
• Other duties as assigned

Candidate Profile
• Ph.D. degree in immunology, biomedicine, biotechnology or a closely related field with at least 2 years of industry experience in process development or pharmaceutical manufacturing. Candidates with prior experience in cell therapy are preferred
• Expert knowledge on immunological assays, including but not limited to, aseptic cell culture, automated and manual cell purification methods, multi-color flow cytometry and genetic manipulation of primary immune cells using viral gene transfer is required
• Fluency with cGMP manufacturing, regulatory regulations and requirements for pharmaceuticals and devices is preferred. Minimally, candidates need to demonstrate strong interest for this field
• Personality aiming to perform laboratory studies with high attention to detail and precision
• Very strong organizational and record keeping skills
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this collaborative work environment
• Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
