The Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai is the new state-of-the-art R&D satellite of the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), which also includes under its umbrella the Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH), the largest cancer hospital in Asia. ACTREC has the mandate to function as a national centre for treatment, research and education in cancer. TMC is an autonomous grant-in-aid institution of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India. It is registered under the Societies Registration Act (1860) and the Bombay Public Trust Act (1950). Its Governing Council is headed by the Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission, Government of India.

Post: Junior Research Fellow - (2 nos.), Study Coordinator

Title of the Project: Profiling the incidence of novel alterations discovered in human lung cancer.

Funding Agency: Terry Fox Foundation

Duration of the Project: One year from the date of appointment, or as and when project terminates.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
JRF:  M.Sc. in Life Sciences or M.Tech in Biotechnology with good academic record (Minimum of 60% aggregate). Valid UGC-CSIR/DBT/ICMR JRF qualification and laboratory experience in molecular biology. Previous experience in molecular biology and animal tissue culture with high throughput platforms and ability to work with a large team would be desirable.

Study co-ordinator: Graduate in Pharmacy with one year work experience in coordinating clinical trials. Experience in Protocol Designing, Ethics Committee Approval Process, Screening of Subjects, Obtaining Informed Consent and Report Writing essential.

*M.Sc. degree obtained after a one year course will not be considered.
Selected candidate will have to join at the earliest.

Consolidated Salary:
JRF: Rs. 20,000/- p.m.
Study Coordinator: Rs. 20, 000/- p.m.

The work progress of the candidate will be monitored and extension after 6 months will depend on satisfactory progress of the work.

Pre-registration for interviews:  Candidates are encouraged to Pre-Register for the interview by sending a covering letter with statement of purpose and CV through email to Program office ‘program.office@actrec.gov.in’ on or before 5th May, 2014 up to 17.00 hrs.  Any relevant hands on research experience should be specifically mentioned and highlighted in the application.

The interviews would be held on 7th May, 2014.  Only registered* candidates should report between 09.30 to 10.00 a.m. on 7th May 2014 (in Steno Pool),  3rd floor, Khanolkar Shodhika, ACTREC, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. Candidates reporting after 10.00 a.m. will not be allowed for the interview.  No T.A./D.A. will be admissible for attending the interview.

If the number of applicants exceed 10, objective type written exam will be taken. Only students qualifying the minimal cutoff marks will be interviewed.
At the time of Interview the candidate should bring originals along with covering letter with statement of purpose and CV with contact details of 2 referees and submit the photocopies (attested) of the certificates, with a recent passport size photograph. All correspondence should be strictly made only to ‘program.office@actrec.gov.in’ as indicated.
